Discover the spectacular scenery and beautiful nature of Qadisha Valley, home to the first Christian monasteries of Lebanon. You will start your hike in the village of Hawqa from where you descend down into the valley. Here, you will visit the 13th century Hawqa monastery, still inhabited by one of the last three hermits in the valley. You will continue your hike with a 1 to 1.5 hour breathtaking path through the valley toward the chapel of Mar Marina and Deir Qannoubine, the oldest Maronite monastery.Just after, you will enjoy a lunch with a large selection of Lebanese mezze at a local restaurant providing beautiful views on the valley.

The monastery is composed of a sanctuary and a few hermitages. It was built during the 13th century in a voided rock face transformed by the monks into a living space.

Visit The Chapel of Saint Marina just beyond Qannoubin is and learn the story of the female saint who, disguised as a man, lived as a monk at Qannoubin.

Located just eight kilometers from Bcharre, The Cedars is one of Lebanon’s most beautiful nature reserves and home to the oldest Cedar Forest. The area used to be an immense forest of cedars, cypresses, pines and oaks. Deforestation started in 3000 BC when the wood was used for vessels, constructions and mummification.
