Batu Caves is a limestone outcrop, most popular of the 10 caves. which at one time used as a shelter by the Aborigines during their hunting trips. It was discovered by Sir William Hornaby in 1878 and is home of Hindu Deity Lord Subramaniam who is honored during Thaipusam every year. Devotees give thanks for vows fulfilled. Ladies to be properly attired to enter the temple - knees and shoulders ought to be covered.

This place is called the Independent Square where Malaysia was proclaimed independence on 31 August 1957. Its the most photograped colonial landmark spot as it houses the Sultan Abdul Samad Moorish styled courthouse and the Tudor styled Clubhouse.
Visit St Mary's Church and the Jamek Mosque where Kuala Lumpur got her name. Drive part Old Railway Station and the National Mosque. Take a walkabout of Little India a place specially designated for the Indian Community selling textiles, Indian traditional goods and restaurant serving various Indian delicacies and foods.
Lunch will be on a Banana Leaf - an assortment of vegetables, pickles and "appalam", using your fingers. After the meal, the leaf is to be folded inwards as a sign of gratitude and satisfaction. A take home thrill !
