Botanical Cyanotype
CYANOTYPE, from the greek, kyanos = blue, also referred to as "Blueprint”, is the oldest non-silver photographic printing process. It involves exposing materials which have been treated with a solution of potassium ferricyanide and ferric ammonium citrate to a UV light source such as the sun. Natural plants can be printed by blocking UV light from reaching the sensitized material.
In this 3 hour workshop you will learn how to use this camera-less photographic printing technique to make your own botanical cyanotype prints on cotton paper using plants from local sources and the power of the sun.
