If you crave adventure, and a desire to kayak and explore an area that few ever get to, then this Sian Ka'an Kayaking and Snorkeling experience is for you. Our expert guides know the area, the currents, winds, and of course the best sunset spots! Together with your small group, you will see sites and visit places that are outside the realm of the modern world, and accessible to only a select few.
The Sian Kaan Biosphere Reserve is one of the largest protected areas in Mexico with 6520 km2 and with an enormous amount biodiversity. The wetlands gives the adventurous kayaker an opportunity to experience the ancient trading routes by paddling among mangrove mazes and calm waters.
Snorkeling in the open mangrove cenote, part of the largest underground river system of the Yucatan Peninsula, is a highly recommended activity to enjoy sights of its incredible diversity and to understand the complexity of this wetland ecosystem.
Our adventure begins from Tulum as we journey half an hour south along the scenic Tulum coast to the open mangrove cenote. From here we jump to the fresh transparent water and keep our eyes peeled for wildlife as we snorkel around. After snorkeling and refreshing ourselves, we keep our journey to the Sian Ka'an Biosphere Reserve driving only three kilometers in the dirt road until arriving to our dock where the kayaks are waiting for us. Our itinerary is quite flexible and the route will be mostly dictated by wildlife viewing opportunities, wind direction/speed, and group conditions and preferences. We paddle for around three hours taking breaks to enjoy the landscape, the local fruit and the healthy snacks that our guides will provide. Our guides will choose the best spot to witness the amazing scene with the sunset on the horizon and the flocks of hundreds of birds that return to spend the night together on their islands. This is also the best moment to share our delicious Mexican meal.
Finally, you will head to Tulum and you will be taken back to your hotel around one hour after sunset.
