Start your kitesurf training in Tulum on a 3-hour private lesson. You will take the lesson at a professional kiteboarding school in Tulum with the latest kite gear and IKO certified instructors. The Caribbean waters, the white sand and the uncrowded beaches of Tulum are the perfect environment to learn this sport. Your lesson includes complete kite equipment (kite, harness, bar, board, helmet, life jacket & wetsuits if needed).

Your lesson begins as you meet your instructor at the kitesurfing school in Tulum. You will get the latest gear and get ready. Your lesson uses IKO methods which are designed to make you learn in the easiest and safest way. You can start a course in Tulum and continue it in any IKO centre around the world. If you already have some kite training, you can start the lesson from the stage you are, not having to repeat everything all over again.

You will have an IKO-certified instructor who will respect your rhythm and take you step by step to reach your goals. The course is taught with a 4 lines inflatable kite from minute one as no training kites are used at first. During the 3-hour lesson, you will learn Kitesurf theory including the “wind window” principle, weather acknowledge, wind directions and conditions for kiting. You will also learn about the kite safety systems and how to set kitesurf equipment up.

As the tour progresses, you will be taught kite control, meaning how to fly a 4 lines inflatable kite on the beach. Then, you'll get ready to launch and land a kitesurf on the beach with assistance, as well as learn the international kitesurf communication signals.

You will also learn kite-surfing techniques including the Body Drag upwind (know how to use the power of the kite to sail upwind using your body as a keel), power strokes (how to use all the power of the kite in the water) and water-start with board (depending on the improvement and level of each student). Once you complete this program, you will get better when you go to the beach and can decide the size of the kite, control,wind direction and power with little supervision.
