If you have only one free day in La Paz our whale sharks and Espiritu Santo Island Day Trip is the trip for you. You’ll have the chance to snorkel with majestic whale sharks before continuing on to explore Espíritu Santo Island a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to turquoise water, multitudes of fish species, and resident sea lions. Snorkel with the sea lions*, explore the island on foot, and relax and enjoy a scrumptious lunch (we take your specific dietary needs taken into account). Every day at the island is different, and our captains and top naturalist guides will make sure you get the most of your experience. Our outboard skiffs are equipped with full shade, seat cushions, and even a private marine toilet.

Itinerary

We meet early in the morning for the short boat ride to the observation zone where the whale sharks come to feed (enquire for specific departure times). Along the way, your bilingual naturalist guide will brief you on whale shark ecology as well as regulations for snorkeling in the observation zone. If you are lucky and feeling adventurous, grab your snorkel and mask and, accompanied by your guide, get in the water to see the whale sharks up close. The trip continues on to Espíritu Santo Island. As you navigate alongside the island, your guide will brief you on its natural history. Your captain will seek out a secluded beach for a tasty lunch before continuing on to the sea lion colony, where you can jump in the water accompanied by your guide to snorkel with the sea lions and observe tropical fish. You’ll have time to explore more of the island before heading back to La Paz in time for dinner.
