Beginning on 21st of March each year Islamic people worldwide celebrates Nauryz, a festival that marks the beginning of a New Year and first day of the spring. More generally, it signifies a time of spiritual renewal and physical rejuvenation, as well as a spirit of gratitude for blessings and an outlook of hope and optimism Hence Nauryz is considerably significant holiday for Kazakh people, in Mongolia. During Nauryz all the past offences and bad deeds are forgiven and forgotten and people will only think, talk about and wish well being and good fortunes to each other. In the area where majority of Kazakh people are concentrated in Bayan-Ulgii province festival is followed by traditional sports, parade of elaborately dressed locals and singing and dancing. This is the exact day when you will experience tremendous hospitality of Kazakh people.

Itinerary

Day 1: Chinggis Khaan Statue Complex

Stop At: Genghis Khan Statue Complex, Tsonjin Boldog, Ulaanbaatar Mongolia
Ulaanbaatar- Chinggis Khaan Statue 110km We start our tour with a short stop at symbolic landmark of the town, Zaisan Hill Memorial which was built to commemorate unknown soldiers and officers deceased during various battles in Mongolia and World War II. The top of the memorial is ideal to observe the full view of the town. We will carry on further towards Manzushri Monastery ruins which are located in one of the picturesque valley of Bogd Khaan Mountain Strictly Protected Area. Initially this complex was erected to worship deity of wisdom – Manzushri in the mid 17th century but was heavily destroyed during communist purges. Today surviving parts are presented as small religious and flora and fauna museum. Excursion at the site/ Arrive at Giant Statue of Chinggis Khaan towering with 40ms height on the bank of Tuul River facing symbolically its birthplace, the direction of East. As the legend says, great king found a golden whip, which for nomads meant symbol of immense fortune and victory.

Day 2: Spring Festival Nauryz

Stop At: Genghis Khan Statue Complex, Tsonjin Boldog, Ulaanbaatar Mongolia
Nauryz, occasional referred as Sun or Spring Festival is one of the long existing holidays in the world. No matter what country or continent, every Muslim person celebrates it. It’s the day when the spring season officially begins. On the Eve of the festival, families will fill up their vessels and containers with milk and yogurt with a wish to have plentiful and bountiful for the new coming year. On this special day everyone wishes each other all the great things and cherish their love and respect. The day of the festival comes along with many interesting traditional games and sports activities. It a holiday of family reunion. Observe and attend the celebration with local Kazakh people.

Day 3: Terelj National Park

Stop At: Gorkhi-Terelj National Park, Ulaanbaatar Mongolia
Nomadic Kazak family – via Terelj National Park - Ulaanbaatar 120km An optional morning ride of experiencing horse trekking along the Tuul River thru the vast steppes with abundant contrast of landscapes. Continue with the journey to Gorkhi-Terelj National Park, a place of granite formations created by natural erosions, slopes covered with pine and larch, fields shattered with colorful wild flowers, pristine rivers and lake. Lunch with a local family Short stops at the highlights of the park, Turtle shaped rock and hiking to the Aryapalo Meditation Center. Return to Ulaanbaatar. Transfer to your accommodation.
