Stop At: Our Lady of the Rocks, Island in Boka Bay, Perast, Kotor Municipality 85336 Montenegro

Island was man-made in the 15th century and got its name by the church on it dedicated to Mother of God. According to the legend, two fishermen from Perast saw lights on the small rock in the sea and found an icon of Mary, Mother of God. People of Perast saw it as a sign from the God to build a church there and hence it was made.

Looking like a small chunk of Venice, the town of Perast is so rich in history, legends & traditions that we will be discussing it for a long time. History tells us it was firstly inhabited in the Neolithic period. It wasn’t however, until Venetian period that town saw its prosperity & rise in importance. Proven in battles against Ottomans & pirates, Perast was long held as one of the Venetian favorites & had a priviledge of guarding Venetian flag of St. Mark. People of Perast were always regarded as excellent seamen. During 17th & 18th centuries they had some of the best sailing schools in this part of the world as well as shipyard. Estimations are that during this time some 100 large ships made in Perast were sailing through international waters. Every of its astounishing palaces and churches has a legend of its own & I can not wait to share it with you.

Stop At: Mamula Fortress, Island Lastavica, Herceg-Novi, Herceg-Novi Municipality Montenegro

We will drive around Mamula Island, spectacular place on the Bay’s entry. Fort built by Austrians in 19th century also used as a concentration camp during Second World War by Italian fascists. Now, however, brand new five star hotel property will be occupying it. Just behind the island marvelous beaches of Mirista & Zanjica , very popular camping places are basking in the sun.

Next, we will enjoy cruising to the Blue Cave. It is an astonishing work of nature where the light beams reflect from the sea inside the cave illuminating it with wonderful color of blue. Swim and snorkel inside admiring its beauty.
