Nomad VIP 3-day Northern Tour

Experience the thrill of north Montenegro - a guide through the country’s wild beauty. Enjoy outdoor activities with added vibrancy, traditional local cuisine and cultural encounters on your journey through the great outdoors of the Montenegrin north. Breathe in fresh mountain air, absorb the sights of glacial lakes and feed your soul with spiritual site visits.

Day 1

Podgorica - Skadar Lake - Monastery Ostrog – Zabljak

Start the tour in the “town on three bridges” – Virpazar, a charming fishing village dating back to the 13th Century located in the picturesque setting of Lake Skadar. Sample some Nomad activities – take a guided ATV drive, speedboat or boat cruise around Skadar Lake, the largest freshwater lake on the Balkan peninsula and a famous wildlife and bird reserve.

Head north to the Ostrog Monastery, a spiritual Orthodox pilgrimage site and mind-blowing 17th Century church built directly into the vertical cliff face – our Nomaguides can de-brief you on the enchanting history of this chalk-white wonder.

Later on, get lost in the pinewood forests of Zabljak, the highest settlement on the Balkan peninsula, coloured in a spectrum of green shades, contrasted by piercing blue skies and proud mountains. Your third and final hotspot for the day is the mirror-top Black Lake, known as the “Mountain Eyes” of Montenegro.

Day 2

This day offers a number of weather-dependent options:

Option A: Zabljak panoramic drive - Katun visit - Bike tour - Zabljak

Option B: Zabljak – Rafting (May-October) - Bike tour - Zabljak

Zabljak - Canyon Nevidio (June-October) - Bike tour - Zabljak

Experience the best that north Montenegro has to offer. If you are an outdoor enthusiast, prepare to get wet and wild on an exhilarating rafting session on the Tara River or ‘get lost’ in the burrowed passages of Canyon Nevidio.

Calm the adrenalin rush with a visit to a traditional family-run katun to enjoy local gastronomy and homegrown produce and re-fuel after an adventurous morning. Return to Zabljak for an extra few hours soaking up the sights on a guided bike tour from the famous Devil’s Lake to the breathtaking Black Lake.

Day 3

Zabljak - Djurdjevica Tara bridge - Biograd Lake - Kolasin - Moraca Monastery - Podgorica

Appreciate the sights of the monumental Djurdjevica Tara Bridge, standing tall and proud over the UNESCO World Heritage site of Durmitor. Feel the thrill of nature on the zip line over the Tara Canyon and descend to splendid Lake Biograd, which found its eternal home surrounded by one of the last European primeval rainforests. Take a hike and enjoy a small picnic on the shores of the largest mountain lake in the country. Pay a visit to an ethno restaurant for an authentic dining experience in rural Montenegro.

En route to the capital of Podgorica, emerging from the canyon is Moraca Monastery, one of Montenegro’s most significant spiritual sites.
