Unique visit of its kind near Marrakech, the Ourika Valley will transport visitors to the Berber world, traditional and mountain, in perfect harmony with nature ...

After crossing the fertile plain of Haouz, we reach the douar of Tnine-de-l'Ourika. This charming little town is a nerve center of the region because of its souk. Every Monday, the inhabitants of neighboring hamlets meet to negotiate their precious harvests, buy the necessities and simply chat about the latest news from the region. All in an indescribable atmosphere that mixes cries of hucksters, cart caps pulled by donkeys and a lively good mood.

Continuing along the Ourika valley, you are struck by the banks of the Oued whose meadows are generously shaded by poplars and other weeping willows unusual in this latitude. We are enthusiastic about this multicolored landscape that perfectly combines the ocher of the earth and the surrounding greenery. It is surprising that the Berber people of the region have done their best to hoist the materials necessary for the construction of small houses on the mountainside or to shape the terraces necessary for agriculture. in a hostile environment.

Further down the road, the village Arhbalou tries to seduce us with its multitude of small restaurants installed over the water. Located at an altitude of 1500 m, during the long hot season of Marrakech it is a tempting stop for the many families looking for a little freshness. The air here is pure but also much cooler than in the plain of Haouz (10 to 15 ° less). Continuing on its way, we will reach km 68 in the village of Setti-Fatma.

Setti-Fatma and its 7 waterfalls:

Terminus obliged of our ascent to the tops of the Atlas, the village of Setti-Fatma constitutes an obligatory stop and sporting during an excursion in the valley of the Ourika. From here begins a series of more or less difficult hikes. The most popular is undoubtedly the discovery of the 7 waterfalls. We will cross the wooden bridge that crosses the wadi before embarking on a slippery climb along the banks of a small stream. The less sporty will be satisfied to admire the first waterfall then the impregnable view on the valley and the mass of Yaghour; while the others will leave for a hike of more than 2 hours to discover these 7 famous waterfalls.
