Itinerary

Day 1: Fes – Ifran – Azrou – Ceder forest – Midelt – Erfoud – Rissani – Merzouga

After breakfast, we will take an early departure for Sahara desert, passing by the Middle Atlas Mountain, the most breath taking scenery imaginable in an unforgettable road trip, which will blow you away! Passing through magical cities such as Ifran (1,650m). Ifran, singular “Ifri”, is the Tamazight Berber word for caves, a nice town that was built by the French in 1930. From there we go to Azrou, which in the local Tamazight language means “rock,” a Berber village in the middle of the famous cedar forest - the largest in Morocco. We will have an opportunity to take photos of barbarian apes in the wild. Along the way of the luxuriant Ziz Valley, we will stop for panoramic views. We will continue through the welcoming Berber villages to Erfoud and Rissani. Once in Merzouga, we will have a hot shower or dip in the swimming pool (depending on the weather). A kind camel man will camel trek us through the golden sand dunes to appreciate a magnificent colorful sunset. We will spend the night in a nomadic Berber camp following the rhythms of nomadic drums in the heart of Erg Chebbi dunes under the display of the superb Milky Way with dinner at a campsite under the desert sky.

Day 2: Ouarzazate

Early in the morning, our blue camel man will get us to see what may be the best sunrise displayed on a clear morning sky on the dunes. Then camel-ride back to the hotel to get a shower and have breakfast. We will drive to Rissani, and Todra gorges - the highest, gorges in Morocco. Here we will have the choice to hike for an hour on the valley beside the river, where we will meet locals and learn about the culture and geography. After lunch, we will leave for Ouarzazate via Dades Valley, the Roses Valley and Skoura, to get to Ouarzazate in the evening.

Day 3: Ouarzazate – Ait benhadou – tizint tishka – Marrakesh.

After breakfast in our accommodation, we will pass across the High Atlas Mountains and the Tizi-Ntichka pass. Numerous nomadic Berber people inhabit the area. Then we will be exposed to a spectacular scenery of rock formations and canyons portraying the resilience of life. That will take us to the Kasbah of Telouet. This Kasbah used to be the strong hold of the Pasha Glaoui a local Governor imposed to serve the interests of the French colonial power in the region. George Orwell and many other V.I.Ps of the 20th century had visited him in this very same Kasbah. It is now in ruins after his flight during the independence of Morocco. Then we will visit and have lunch in The Kasbah of Ait Benhaddou famous as the setting scene of more than twenty films, as” Babel. After lunch, we will continue to Marrakech via the Tizi–Ntichka pass (2260m) over the High Atlas Mountains, before arriving at your Hotel in Marrakech.
