4 days in Merzouga from fes to Marrakech

A 4-day trip to the Merzouga Desert is the ideal option for those who land in Fes and leave Marrakech: in addition to visiting the two most touristic cities of the country, you can discover the impressive Merzouga Desert.

Itinerary

Day 1: First day: Fez - Ifrane - Azrou - Arfoud - Merzouga

Stop At: Merzouga Desert, Merzouga Morocco
We will pick you up at your hotel and head to Merzouga, crossing the Middle Atlas and its cedar woods. This mountain chain stretches 350 kilometers from south-west to north-eastern Morocco.

On the way, you will pass by the village Iframe, also called the "Moroccan Switzerland" because of the architecture of its houses and because it is the most exclusive ski destination of the country. You will then stop in Azrou, one of the most famous Berber cities of Morocco.

The day will continue with the visit of the Ziz Valley and the Gorges du Ziz, where you will pass by villages such as Midelt or Arfoud. From Arfoud, you will take a desert road to reach Merzouga.

You will spend the night in a hotel near the dunes.

You will continue the day with the visit of the famous village of Khamlia, where you can meet gnaouas, a nomadic tribe descendant of African slaves and you will enjoy their surprising folk music.

Back to Ouarzazate, you will pass by Rissani and Tafilalet, where was born the Alawite dynasty and former capital of the Alaoui sultans. You will then go to the Todra Gorges, where you can admire the valley from the hill, and the Dades Valley.

Leaving the Dades Valley behind us and taking the road of "kasbah miles", we will pass by the surprising Valley of Roses, known for its impressive rose culture and we will reach the Skoura Palm Grove. You will end the day in Ouarzazate, where you will spend the night.
