Your Private City Tour starts at the enchanting and picturesque botanical Jardin Majorelle, formerly owned and designed by Yves Saint Laurent. The garden was created by an avid plant collector, and is today one of the most popular attractions in Marrakech, and it is for good reasons. In this refreshing oasis, you're going to wander in the midst of trees and exotic plants of dreamy origin, pools filled with water lilies and lotus flowers, and vividly colored earthen walls. Let yourself take a break from the frantic pace of the Red City and enjoy the delicate fragrance filling the air!

The museum presents a panorama of the extraordinary creativity of the Berbers, and provides an overview of their vibrant culture, featuring artifacts, ethnic costumes and fabulous jewelry, that have been collected from North Africa & the Sahara by YSL & his partner Pierre Bergé.

On your way to the Medina, you'll pass by the 'new city', the modern side of Marrakech. The area was designed & built by the French in the early 1900s, and is today the thriving heart of the Red city, where you can spot popular international brands and fine cafés. You'll also pass by its main avenue, that we love to call "the Champs Elysées of Marrakech".

Stop At: Koutoubia Mosque, Rue el Ksour, Derb Sabai, 13, Marrakech 40000 Morocco

You'll then start your visit of the old town at the Koutoubia Mosque, a key piece in Morocco’s history, built during the 12th century under the Almohad Dynasty. Its minaret remains the tallest building in Marrakech so it can be visible from almost everywhere in the city, like a guiding star, helping you to get directions when you're lost.

Next, you'll visit the exquisite Bahia Palace that fascinates everyone by its fine Moorish architecture, gorgeous ceramic tiles and the majestic beauty of its colors.

Then, you'll walk through a very interesting part of the Medina, the Jewish Quarter (Mellah), which will help you understand the important role of the Jewish culture and community in developing the unique identity of Marrakech & Morocco.

Stop At: Slat Al Azama Synagogue, Derb Saka, Marrakech 40000 Morocco

And you'll enter Morocco's largest Synagogue "Slat Al Azama", founded in 1492 by Jews who were expelled from Spain. It is still in use and is popular for Jewish weddings and Bar Mitzvahs. Out of respect for the community, please note that photos are discouraged and entrance is not allowed during Shabbat.

Stop At: Bab Agnaou, Marrakech Morocco

If you wish, you'll go inside one of the city's well-reputed herbal stores, where you can learn everything you want to know about herbs, spices and essential oils while having a Moroccan mint tea and some local pastry. Then, you'll continue your way towards Bab Agnaou, one of the nineteen gates of Marrakech and the main entrance to the Royal Kasbah.

There, we'll invite you to a unique cultural trip back in time to discover two points of interest: 1/ the Farnatchi, where you can uncover the process of heating the water in traditional public steam baths, called hammams, which dates back to Roman times; the Farnatchi is also where some locals still bring their dishes (especially the typical Tanjia) to be slowly cooked in a wood-fired oven; 2/ an age-old bakery where artisanal bread is still cooked the old fashioned way;

The flamboyant & beautiful Moulay El Yazid mosque is located in the old Kasbah of Marrakech, the citadel or royal district. Along with the Koutoubia Mosque, it is one of the most important historical mosques in the Red City.
