Itinerary

Day 1: Fes – Ifrane – Errachidia – Erfoud – Merzouga

Stop At: Ifrane, Ifrane, Meknes-Tafilalet Region
The modern town of Ifrane was established by the French administration in 1928 during the protectorate era for their administration due to its Alpine climate. Ifrane was conceived as a “hill station” or colonial type of settlement. It is a resort town set high up in the mountains so that Europeans can find relief from the summer heat of tropical colonies. Ifrane is also a popular altitude training destination.

Stop At: Cedar Forest Outdoors, tizi moulay lhassan, Azrou, Morocco
The cedars cover vast stretches of Morocco's mountainous the Middle Atlas, near the town of Azrou.

It is these rugged slopes that are home to a rare and iconic cedar, named after World War I French general Henri Gouraud, who was stationed in Morocco to take charge of colonial troops.

A key tourist attraction, the Gouraud cedar stands 42 meters (140 feet) tall and is 900 years old, with one distinctive branch that juts out like a candelabra.

A town in central Morocco, in the high plains between the Middle Atlas and High Atlas mountain ranges. With a population of 55,304 recorded in the 2014 Moroccan census,[1] Midelt serves as the commercial center of a large agricultural hinterland. It is also one of Morocco's principle cities for the mining of several minerals.

On the way to the Sahara, you will encounter and the Ouled (river) Ziz and the Ziz valley that punctuate the landscape with their brilliant green palms. With the golden prehistoric valley walls towering above you, and the dusty ancient kasbah's & ksar dotting the palm groves, the Ziz lends a feel of what it might be like to mix the worlds of Jurassic Park and Indiana Jones, making it the perfect place to put on your explorers’ hat and go on an adventure.

It's a small Moroccan town in the Sahara Desert, not too far from the Algerian border. It's known as the door to Erg Chebbi, a huge stretch of sand dunes south of town. Merzouga is such an iconic place to visit in Morocco that it's considered one of the best destinations in the country! Erg Chebbi, Merzouga.

Day 2: Sahara Fossils Factory - Todra Valley & Mountain Gorge - Dades Valley

Stop At: Morabit Fossils, Route de Rissani, Erfoud 52200 Morocco
Erfoud area was created during the Palaeozoic era - about 540 million to 250 million years ago - the southeast of Morocco lay under the sea. The local collector says the area is today home to "close to 500 varieties of fossils spread over 100 square kilometers” including trilobites, which are between 410 and 500 million years old.

Stop At: Todra River, Morocco
The Todgha Gorges are a series of limestone river canyons, or wadi, in the eastern part of the High Atlas Mountains in Morocco, near the town of Tinerhir. Both the Todgha and neighbouring Dades Rivers are responsible for carving out these deep cliff-sided canyons, on their final 40 kilometres (25 mi) through the mountains. The height of the canyon walls can vary, but in some places can be up to 400 metres (1,312 ft) high.

The Dadès Gorges are a series of rugged wadi gorges carved out by the Dadès River in Morocco. The river originates in the High Atlas range of the Atlas mountains, flowing some 350 kilometers (220 mi) southwest before joining the Draa River at the edge of the Sahara. The many-colored walls of the gorges range anywhere from 200 to 500 meters (650 to 1600 feet).

Day 3: Rose valley - Skoura - Ouarzazate - High Atlas Mt - Marrakech

This town constitutes an economic and social center for the region, for its very animated nature. Kalaat M'Gouna is most known for the "Roses Festival" which takes place in the city every year in May.

Stop At: Ouarzazate, Ouarzazate, Souss-Massa-Draa Region
Ouarzazate nicknamed The door of the desert, is a city and capital of Ouarzazate Province in Drâa-Tafilalet region of south-central Morocco. Ouarzazate is at an elevation of 1,160 meters (3,810 ft) in the middle of a bare plateau south of the High Atlas Mountains. To the south of the town is the desert.

Stop At: Ait Ben Haddou, Ait Ben Haddou, Souss-Massa-Draa Region
Aït Benhaddou is an ighrem (a fortified village in English) along the former caravan route between the Sahara and Marrakech in present-day Morocco. Most citizens attracted by the tourist trade live in more modern dwellings in a village on the other side of the river, although there are four families still living in the ancient village. Inside the walls of the ksar are half a dozen kasbahs, or merchants' houses. Ksar Aït Benhaddou is a great example of Moroccan earthen clay architecture and has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987.
