After 3.5 hours we are already in Ouarzazate, a smaller but very attractive city. We also visit Agdz and enjoy the Draa Valley area. We pass numerous palm trees and Kasbas. There is also an old Kasbah Tamnougalt, where we like to stop. Afterwards we continue via Zagora to M'hamid, where the desert begins. Day 2: Then it goes with the camels in the Sahara
Stop At: M'Hamid, M'Hamid, Souss-Massa-Draa Region
2nd day: Breakfast at the Bivoak. Then it goes with the camels in the Sahara. They are accompanied by real nomads who know the desert very well. Your companions speak French and / or English. The camels march together in a caravan, while you can get to know the wonderful world, slowly and with a leisurely pace on the back of these quiet, fascinating animals. We will sleep next to a marabou, where you can really enjoy the peace and quiet of the desert, far from the stress of everyday life. The starry sky that shines so clearly tells its own stories. Often they make music together and together they let the romantic evening fade away in the silence of the Sahara.
3rd day: After breakfast we continue together in the direction of the big dunes of Ezzahr. We take lunch on the route to us. The dunes of the Ezzahar are almost 300m high and when you climb you will be rewarded with a fantastic view over the sea from the sand of the Sahara. We are here in a part of the Sahara that can only be reached on foot or by camel, but no longer by jeep. There we also set up our camp for the night.
Day 4: We have strengthened ourselves with a delicious breakfast and continue with the camels until noon on through the Sahara Erg Essamar. There is a fountain in the middle of the desert. From the water of the well, our camels are strengthened. For nomads who live in the desert, the water is indeed edible, for tourists but due to the high salt content is no longer possible to drink. Next to the fountain we take a longer rest and take our lunch there. Afterwards we hike again in the direction of Chegaga. On the way we look for a nice place for the dinner, where we can sit comfortably by the fire and afterwards we spend the night either in a tent or under the stars.
Day 5: The landscape we walk through is constantly changing. We experience a fascinating sand sea with beautifully curved dunes and also the Hamada, the large stone desert. We cross the L'oued Laatache ("river of thirst") and arrive at Bogran, a place where there are very beautiful dunes. In this quiet place you have a very good outlook and vision of the surroundings. You can even see M'hamid in the distance. This is also a good place to have a meal and end the day.
Day 6: Today our little caravan goes to an oasis after breakfast in the warming morning sun. 40 date palms, a small river with fish, frogs and dragonflies. At one of the fountains we can take a shower - a "desert shower" under the palm trees. Strengthened or we go towards Chegaga - one of the largest dune seas of the southern Moroccan Sahara.
Chegaga is about 75 km from M'hamid. There we stay in a Bivoak, at the foot of the beginning dune landscape. The nomads also call this Bivoak "Bivoak de Luxe of the 1000 stars".
Day 7: In the morning we say goodbye to our beloved camels and the desert companion, as they have to go back to M'hamid. We drive back from Chegaga by jeep and cross the small dunes and Lake Iriqi, a dry lake, and continue to Foum Zguid, a small village in the Sahara. There begins again the paved road. From there we drive to Taznakht, where we visit a cooperative producing traditional hand-made Moroccan Berber carpets. In the afternoon we continue to the Todra Mountains to the Dades Gorges. There we spend the night in a nice hotel.
8th day: Breakfast at the hotel. Then we drive through a varied landscape towards Ouarzazate. There we can visit the film studios Ouarzazate, which are located here, and where famous films like Alexander the Great, Babel, u.a. were produced. There is also the famous Kasbah Ait Benhaddu, which can be visited. Afterwards we drive back through the Atlas and via Tizi n'Tichka to Marrakech, where we arrive in the evening. When we arrive in Marrakech, we say goodbye to you.
