Private tours to the authentic Morocco Genuine Berber life in the High Atlas

Starting beyond Marrakech this tour leads us through the High Atlas and the old Kasbahs of the Glaoui in Telouet and Ait Benhaddou. On the off-road trip from the Valley of Roses to the Gorge of Dades you will visit Nomads living in caves. In Imilchil you visit the Berber tribal clans who have a strong sense of culture and tradition that has been preserved for decades. At the end of this trip we dive into the colorful and vibrant city of Marrakech.

MARRAKECH

Arrival at the airport – we bring you to an eco-lodge off site Marrakech to make your start of the journey as smooth and comfortable as possible. Enjoy the farm with field crops and a swimming-pool near to Ourika valley.

TELOUET

After a relaxing breakfast we head to the High Atlas crossing the Tich’n Tizka but then taking the small road to Telouet. It was a former domicile of the Glaoui Royal family with an old Kasbah to visit.

We will stay over-night in an authentic Auberge of the mountain habitants and experience their cultural music and dances. Our mountain guide lead us through the mountains on a half-day hike.

AIT BENHADDOU – SKOURA

Next morning we go on travelling to Ait Benhaddou, another former Glaoui Kasbah. For sure we will enter the old Kasbah, even it’s nowadays a touristic spot. After lunch we pass Ouarzazate and a lake with quiet places for meditation or just enjoying the nature. Over-night stay in Skoura and its palmeraie.

KELAA M’GOUNA – BOUTAGHRAR – DADES VALLEY

Entering the Rose  Valley our new day starts. We are following the road until Boutaghrar and then our path turns to an off-road piste. High up in the mountain we visit a group of native Berber living up there in caves like in other times. Hospitality is a major sign of respect and therefore we are invited for a glass of tea and an interchange of traditions.

Later we drive on through the valley of the river Dades, a wonderful play of nature with amazing stone formations. Next day an extensive hike along the river with picnic is on program. Two over-night stays in Dades Valley.

MSEMRIR – AGOUDAL – IMILCHIL

Following the road until the end of Dades valley with its miraculous views we pass Mesemrir, already off-raod, to Agoudal up in the High Atlas. We will find stalactite caves, sources of purest water and friendly habitants, the Berber where we stop for a bite to eat. Later on arriving Imilchil we check in our place with habitants for the over-night stay. Imilchil – located between the  plateau between High and Middle Atlas – is an mountain oasis inhabited by Berber and famous for its marriage market.

KASBAH TADLA – BENI MELLAL – MARRAKECH

Our travel route now follows the way back to Marrakech passing Kasbah Tadla and Beni Mellal. In the vibrant, oriental city of  Marrakech we spend  our last days with an exciting program: Sightseeing of the Koutoubia mosque, the Saadian Tombs and the Majorelle Gardens. Highlight is the Medina with its colorful daily life and the market place „Djema el Fna” where bargainers, storytellers, water-sellers and snake-charmers get together.  Three over-night stays in an authentic, charming Riad in the Medina.
