Shared 3 Days Desert Tour From Marrakech to Merzouga Desert Back Marrakech

Merzouga is a small town out on the edge of the Sahara Desert of Erg Chebbi. Merzouga is only 20 km away from Algerian border where the paved road ends and the real Sahara Desert sand dunes begin. Merzouga desert is the most common destination in Morocco for Camel treks and desert camps. To experience the Sahara desert dunes it is a must to take a camel trip and stay overnight in a berber tent or in a luxury camp. The camel trip takes approximately 1 hour through amazing red-orange sand dunes at sunset to reach the sahara desert camp where you will be served wonderful and rich dinner, enjoy a musical play with the staff around blazing fire. But note it is at least a ten hours drive from the erg chebbi dunes to Marrakech. The trip is possible in 3 days however we recommend a slow pace over 4 or 5 days.

Itinerary

Day 1: Day 1: Marrakech - Atlas Mountains - Ait Ben Haddou - Oaurzazate - Dades Gorge

Stop At: Tizi n Tichka, Imlil Village, Ouarzazate 45000 Morocco
Your driver will pick you up at 08:00 am, and you will start 3 days desert tour from Marrakech to the Dades Gorges across the Tizi-n-Tichka Atlas pass, with far-reaching views across the mountains, to the traditional High Atlas Berber villages.
Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Ksar of Ait-Ben-Haddou, Douar Ait Ben Haddou, Ait Ben Haddou 45000 Morocco
Then you continue to visit the UNESCO World Heritage site and have lunch at one of the restaurants at the foothils of the Kasbahs, then we continue to Dades gorges through Skoura and rose valley, we will spend the night in a traditional kasbah in Dades gorges.

Day 2: Day 2: Dades Gorge - Todra Gorge - Erfoud - Risani - Merzouga

Stop At: Todgha Gorge, R 703 near the town of Tinerhir, Tinerhir 45520 Morocco
After breakfast, we will drive from Dades gorges to Erg chebbi Sahara desert at Merzouga. Berber villages are scattered along the way, we’ll pass through Todra Gorges, Tenhir, Tinjdad, Jorf and Erfoud in which we’ll feel the beginning of the Saharan oasis of Tafilalet,

we continue to a Hotel in Merzouga, after relaxing a few minutes you will take some of you luggage in a small bag (just the necessary for the night in desert) , then we will ride the camels on an adventure crossing the Erg Chebbi sand dunes, this is a great opportunity to take lovely pictures of the sunset and sunrise. When we reach the camp we will leave the camels and we will walk to the highest sand dunes for sandboarding and to watch the sunset, we will spend the night in a camp (Berber nomad tents) with drumming music in the middle of the Sahara.

Day 3: Merzouga - Alnif - Tazarine - Agdez - Marrakech

Pass By: Erg Chebbi Dunes, Morocco
An early wake up to enjoy the sunrise over the highest dunes of Erg Chebbi in Merzouga one of the best moments of the desert, afterwards you will have breakfast in the camp, pack and go back either on camels or by 4x4 leaving the dunes behind. Back on the asphalt roads, you will drive to Marrakech through Alnif, Tazarine, Draa valley,Agdez and Ouarazazate. In Ourazazate we will have free time for lunch and a photo stop in front of the famous Taourirt Kasbah. Afterwards we will continue to Marrakech, where your Merzouga desert experience ends. Crossing again the Atlas Mountains and the Berber villages between Ouarzazate and Marrakech
