The departure from Fez is at 8:00 AM. Our professional driver takes you along the Atlas mountains.
On your way, you will pass by some Berber villages like Imouzzer (1200 m of altitude). This village is inhabited by the famous Berber tribe of "Zayanes" whose main occupation is agriculture.
Afterwards, a stop is necessary in Ifrane (1650 m of altitude). It looks like a small Swiss town and it is famous for its Ski Resort of Michlifen. Not much further you will enjoy a walk in the Cedar Forest. This is known for being the home of the North African monkey (the famous Barbary macaque).
The next step is a break in Midelt for lunch. It is a quite Berber town located at the foot of the High Atlas.
This place is famous for its fossils and minerals.
After the lunch you will notice a dramatic change in landscapes as our professional driver will take you to the other side of the High Atlas. Errachidia is already located in the desert...

Day 1: Fes - Ifrane - Midelt - Merzouga

There, you will make a stop for the beautiful view of the Ziz river and the Ziz oasis (considered as one of the biggest in the world), with thousands of palm trees producing more than 20 different types of dates.
Arriving to Erfoud, you can change the vehicle to a 4WD in order to reach Merzouga and especially Erg Chebbi, where you can see the golden dunes.
Here, the choice is yours, either to watch and enjoy the sunset or the sunrise while riding a camel like a "Lawrence of Arabia".
The night is expected to be wonderful: it is a good time watching the stars and listening to Berber drummers performing in a very nice and harmonious rythm.
