Day 1: arrive paro

The flight from Kathmandu to Paro is arguably the world’s most spectacular mountain flights, with the magnificent panorama of some of the highest peaks in the world. As soon as you arrive at Paro airport, our representative will meet you and help you through customs formalities. We serve you launch and guide you for sightseeing around Paro.

One of the important parts of this tour is a visit to the Ta Zhong Monastery Museum, which has housed many religious leftovers, fine arts, and handicrafts. The museum located on the hill behind the Paro Dzong remains open from 9 am to 4 pm every day except Mondays and some national holidays. Opened in 1968, the museum has different sections for the display of textiles, jewellery, and handicrafts. The topmost floor of the museum is a chapel containing a tree that illustrates the main figures of the four religious schools of Tibetan Buddhism.

Next, visit another cultural landmark, Rimpong Dzong and see the ancient painting of the saint Milarepa, who has been considered as the master of meditation by the Bhutanese. It houses the district Monastic Body and administrative offices of Paro Dzongkhag. Then visit Kichu Lhakhang, the oldest Himalayan temple in the country. It was initially built in the 7th century by the Tibetan Emperor Songtsen Gampo. It has been believed that Padmasambhava concealed many spiritual treasures when he first visited the temple in the 8th century. In the evening visit Drukgyal Dzong, a fortress and Buddhist monastery, built-in 1649 by Tenzin Drukdra at the request of Ngawang Namgyal, Zhabdrung Rinpoche, to celebrate the victory over Tibet invasion. Day 2: Paro to Thimpu

The second day of a glimpse of Bhutan tour package will start with a hike to Taktsang Monastery aka Tiger’s Nest, which is Bhutan’s most famous monastery. This sacred system is situated at around 10,400 feet in the Cliffside of the upper Paro valley. The complex structure was built in 1962 around the Taktsang Senge Samdup cave where Guru Padmasambhava was believed to have meditated for 3 years, 3 months, 3 weeks, 3 days and 3 hours in the eighth century. Padmasambhava is the tutelary deity, who is credited with introducing Buddhism to Bhutan. The visit to this sacred place is also packed with extreme adventure as it is perched on the edge of a cliff about 3,000 feet above the Paro Valley.

Your lunch is served in the Cafeteria Restaurant, located about halfway up the mountain. After exploring the monastery, hike back down to the valley floor. Then, in the evening 1.5 hours drive across the Pachu River will take you to Bhutan’s capital city, Thimpu, where your guide will orient the Bhutanese custom. Stay overnight at a hotel in Thimpu.

Day 3: Thimpu tour

Stop At: Tashichho Dzong (Thimpu Dzong), Chhagchhen Lam, Thimphu Bhutan
On day 3, after breakfast, you will enjoy a full day of sightseeing of Thimpu, Bhutan’s capital city. Visit National Memorial Chorten, which was first initiated by the 3rd King of Bhutan (reigned from 1952 to 1972) as a protection from the negative elements of modernization. The Royal Queen Mother completed the construction of a memorial stupa of the third king, who passed away in 1972. Your visit will continue to the 12th century Changangkha Temple, one of the oldest temples of Bhutan, which is serving locals since its construction about 800 years ago. In this pilgrimage site, people ask protector deity Tamdrin to bless their children. Everyone bows before the mesmerizing outsized statue of Chenrezi, thousand-armed deity of ultimate compassion, whose mantra is renowned as “om mani Padme Hung.

” Pilgrims in a quiet state may be able to feel the vibe of compassion that permeates peace to their inner soul. Drubthob Monastery is a Buddhist monastery in the small country of Bhutan. Also known as Zilukha Nunnery, it was established by later incarnation of Druthob Thangtong Gyalpo or Drubthob Chakzampa. It is the biggest nunnery in Bhutan and is a good place to take photographs and experience what it feels like to be a Bhutanese Buddhist nun. Many Bhutanese people are admitted here to learn Buddhism. At present, it is home to about 60 nuns. The next attraction of Thimpu is Folk Heritage Museum, which was founded in 2001 by Queen Mother Ashi Dorji Wangmo Wangchuk. The 3-story museum includes paddy, wheat and millet fields, hot stone bath, kitchen gardens and more.

The ground floor of the museum seems like a barn, the first floor seem like a safe store and top floors like dining and living area. You can find various materials like ancient artefacts, rural households, and tools that depict the Bhutanese culture and lifestyle. It is open during the weekdays (10:00 am to 4:30 pm) except on government holidays. You need to not worry if you happen to be there during the weekend as it is opened from 10:30 am to 1:00 pm on Saturdays and from 11:30 am to 3:30 pm on Sundays.

Day 4: Thimpu - Paro

Possibilities of day hikes are high all over this mountainous kingdom Bhutan. On day 4, we will escort you through the adventurous hiking to Wangditse Monastery. In this one hour walk through the pine forest enjoying the magnificent view of north Thimpu Valley, you will get to see Takins, a unique animal found only in the Himalayan region. Wangditse Monastery, also known as Wangditse Goemba, was founded in 1750 and was renovated in 2001 and 2016. This hillside monastery houses a two-story statue of Sakyamuni Buddha. There are also statues of other deities, including Palden Lhamo (aka Mahakali), Yeshey Goenpo (Mahakala) and Tsheringma (goddess of longevity). After exploring the monastery, you will hike back to Thimpu and drive to Paro after lunch. You can spend the rest of the time strolling in the Paro village and learning the lifestyle of the locals. The specialities of the place are butter tea and ara, a local wine produced from wheat or rice. You will stay overnight at a hotel in Paro.
