Annapurna Poon Hill
This trek from the Annapurna foothills to the top of Poon Hill is one of the most pleasant trekking routes in the Himalayas in Nepakl. This trek, which brings you to the village of Ghorepani offers spectacular mountain scenery.
The charming settlements of Gurung and their slate-roofed houses bring you into another world, as do amazing rhododendron forests ablaze with ivory, rose, apricot and crimson bouquets and deep sub-tropical valleys all set below the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri range.
Also known as the small Annapurna Circuit, its a very popular short trek for those with time limitations. The hike offers amazing Himalayan views of Mount Dhaulagiri (8167m), Annapurna 1 (8091m), Machhapuchhre / Fishtail (6998m) and more.
Rising to 3210m, the Ghorepani Poon Hill trek will provide you with gradual climbs, a beautiful environment and a spectacular sunrise over Machhapuchhre (Fishtail) and Dhaulagiri, as the sun changes its colour from pink to gold to silver breathtaking!
Itinerary
Day 1: Kathmandu to Birethanti - 1000m
Pass By: Pokhara Museum, Pokhara Nepal
The journey by tourist bus will take approximately 7 hours to reach our start point of Nayapul and stretch your leg for some half an hour, along the river bank of Modi Khola, to large village and better place to overnight lodge at Birethanti.
You may choose alternatively to take the 25-minute flight to Pokhara from Kathmandu, which while saving you a day of the itinerary, comes at an additional cost. From Pokhara you would then make the 1 hour trip to Nayapul by private transportation. Please contact us to learn more about customizing your trek.

Day 2: Birethanti to Banthanti - 2250m
Pass By: Pokhara Museum, Pokhara Nepal
Heading out Birethanti the trail follows the north bank of the Bhurungdi Khola river and gradual and gently up the valley to Tirkhe Dhunga through the cultivated fields and cross the river on suspension bridge and steeply ascend to large Magar village Ulleri to have lunch stops.

Day 3: Banthanti to Ghorepani - 2800m
Pass By: Pokhara Museum, Pokhara Nepal
he trail starts gently through the streams and forest of rhododendron and oak laden with natural lichens, arriving at Nangethanti. After a short rest you will trek for another hour to Ghorepani arriving there during lunch time, allowing you have rest, enjoy the view or go for optional walk around. Overnight at a guesthouse.

Day 4: Ghorepani to Poon Hill (3210m) and then Tadapani 2520m

Today we wake especially early at 4am and hike to Poon Hill with the help of our flashlights. As reward we will get to enjoy a beautiful sunrise and panoramic views of the Himalayan range. This is the highlight of the trip and offers up spectacular views of Mt. Dhaulagiri, Annapurna South and the famous Fishtail Mountain in the clear morning light.

Day 5: Tadapani to Ghandruk 1950m
Pass By: Pokhara Museum, Pokhara Nepal
Leaving Tadapani, we will descend steeply to the village of Ghandruk, home to the ethnic Gurung people of Nepal. The Gurung people have their own language, dress and culture and are known for providing many of the famous Gorkha soldiers down the years.

Day 6: Ghandruk to Pokhara 910m
Pass By: Pokhara Museum, Pokhara Nepal
The last day of our trek, we will follow the trail for 4 hours back down to Nayapul and then catch a bus back to Pokhara. You can choose to overnight in a hotel and spend some more time exploring this lakeside town (recommended!) and enjoying its food and shopping or you can catch the bus or flight back to Kathmandu where you will be escorted to your hotel.
