The Langtang Valley has long been a favorite trek due to its expansive views, interesting Tamang culture, relatively gentle pace and accessibility from Kathmandu. The 2015 earthquake and subsequent landslide had an enormous effect on the region, but aid and reconstruction have recently reopened this valley to trekking again. Not only is it still a beautiful trek, your visit will also provide vital support for local livelihoods.

Detailed itinerary

Day 1: Welcome to Kathmandu!

As you fly into Kathmandu, you'll have beautiful views over the valley, the Himalaya, and of the terraced fields below. After going through customs, a representative will be waiting to guide you through the initial culture shock of Kathmandu’s narrow, winding streets and get you settled into your hotel.

Day 2: Drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi (1,450m)

We start early in the morning after breakfast and start our drive up to Syabrubeshi which takes about 7 -8 hours. We drive along the scenic banks of Trishuli River with beautiful views of valleys, meadows, rivers and mountains.

Day 3: Trek to Lama Hotel (2,480m)

After breakfast the trail ascends for about 2 hours and then a climb for an hour takes us to a bamboo village where we will enjoy our lunch. After that we walk through leveled trails witnessing a number of bird species in the area as well as beehives hanging on the cliffs. We will have to ascend a steep climb again to finally reach the Lama Hotel where we will stay the night.

Day 4

: Trek to Langtang Village (3,540m)

A pleasant walk through the rhododendron and pine forests for 3 hours takes us to Ghoda Tabela. After having lunch here, we can enjoy the dense forests and herbs in the area. Another 3 hours walk through a scenic trail finally takes us to the Langtang valley where we will spend the night.

Day 5: Trek Kyanjin Gompa (3,900m)

This day is dedicated to indulging in the natural beauty and serenity of the Gompa area. We can enjoy the splendid mountain views as well as relish in the peaceful environment. We can also take a climb up to the Tsergo Ri at 5150m and also reach the Langtang glacier and the beautiful yak pasture called Langshisha Kharka. This quite tough day. We will follow the same trail back to Kyanjin Gompa and spend the night in the same hotel.

Day 6: Kyanjin Gompa Acclimatization and Exploration Day

This day is dedicated to indulging in the natural beauty and serenity of the Gompa area. We can enjoy the splendid mountain views as well as relish in the peaceful environment. We can also take a climb up to the Tsergo Ri at 5150m and also reach the Langtang glacier and the beautiful yak pasture called Langshisha Kharka. This quite tough day. We will follow the same trail back to Kyanjin Gompa and spend the night in the same hotel.

Day 7: Trek back to Rimche (2,350m)

On this day, we again trek back our steps through the Bamboo and rhododendron forests to finally reach Syabrubeshi. This not a long day of walk it takes only 4-5 hour. Enjoy the night at one of the local lodge at Sybrubesi.

Day 8: Trek from Rimche to Syabrubensi (1,450m)

Day 9: Drive Back to Kathmandu
