Historical fisherman villages

The tour starts at your hotel. We go to Zaandijk where you can walk through Zaanse Schans, an open air museum.  We continue with a visit to Edam. Walk through the lovely old center with the famous cheese market and enjoy a lunch or a snack. After lunchtime we go to Volendam, an old fishermans village on the top of the IJsselmeer-dike. Feel yourself a tourist among thousands of tourists. Eat a herring or a smoked eel and take the boat to the island Marken. Later we meet at Marken and bring you back to your hotel.

Stop At: Zaanse Schans, Schansend 1, 1509 AW Zaandam The Netherlands

Zaanse Schans is an Open Air Museum where you find al sorts of windmills and early factories brought together. You can get a demonstration how to make wooden shoes, cheese, butter and how to saw trees in wooden parts for boats and houses. You will visit a cheese market in Edam. In Volendam you can admire the beautiful historical clothes local people had in the last few centuries. You can take the boat to Marken, a small island in the IJsselmeer. Walking there gives you the feeling time stood still for more than 200 years.
