In this 14 day Tour you will get to visit Hobbiton, enjoy a pint in The Green Dragon Pub, climb over volcanic rocks at Mordor, kayak through the ‘Dwarves in Barrels’ location and charge across the Pelennor fields! You will spend time with the Artist and map maker of all six films and experience exclusive behind the scenes tours at the famous Weta Workshop. You will climb to the top of Edoras to fly the Rohan flag and experience all Middle-earth has to offer. The whole time you will be submerged in breath-taking New Zealand scenery with lush green forests, volcanic slopes, sparkling blue lakes and native wild life. That, coupled with a fellowship of like-minded fans you will be sharing this tour with, will draw you into a group dynamic that is welcoming, lively and inclusive. Its time to go on an Adventure

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival Day

Stop At: Takapuna Beach, Auckland Central, Auckland New Zealand
You will arrive at the tour Hotel in Takapuna. You will have free time to explore Takapuna and the beach before we meet at the tour hotel for our welcome dinner.

Day 2: Hobbiton Movie Set

Stop At: Hobbiton Movie Set, 501 Buckland Road Matamata, Hinuera 3472 New Zealand
Be guided through a tour of magical Hobbiton, followed by enjoying a pint in the Green Dragon and Lunch!

Day 3: Trollshaw Forest and Mordor

Stop At: Trollshaws, Mangaotaki Road, Mangaotaki 3971, New Zealand
Take a guided tour through the stunning Trollshaw Forest movie location from The Hobbit!

Day 4: Gollums fishing pool and Erebor

Day 5: Weta Workshop day

Enjoy an exclusive behind the scenes tour of Weta Workshop and take part in a special Weta activity!

We will enjoy a lunch at this beautifully restored old theatre by owners Richard Taylor, Tania Rodgers and Jamie Selkirk.

Later today we will also visit the iconic 'Get off the road' location from The fellowship of the ring!

Day 6: Special Movie Guest

Today we will meet with Daniel Reeve, the calligrapher, map maker and artist for The Lord of the Rings and Hobbit movies! In winter months we also have a special Hobbit movie guest

Day 7: Kayaking the Pelorous River

Stop At: Interislander Wellington, 1 Aotea Quay, Pipitea, Wellington 6011, New Zealand
We begin the day with a 3 hour cruise to the South Island

Stop At: Nelson Lakes National Park, New Zealand
Kayak down the same river the dwarves in barrels did in The Hobbit!
Duration: 1 hour

Day 8: The One Ring maker and the South of Rivendell movie location

Stop At: Nelson Lakes National Park, New Zealand
Today there is an optional activity to take a scenic helicopter flight to the South of Rivendell movie location from The Lord of the Rings. Includes 2 landings!

Stop At: Jens Hansen Gold and Silversmith, 320 Trafalgar Square, Nelson 7010 New Zealand
Visit the original gold smith and maker of the 'One Ring' for the films. Get an inside look at his workshop and amazing Lord of the Rings pieces.

Day 9: Beautiful Kaikoura Coast

This is a beautiful place to visit with stunning scenery and baby fur seals to see along the way

Day 10: Magnificent Edoras

Stop At: Mount Somers Track, Flynns Road, Mount Somers New Zealand
This magnificent movie location is a very spiritual experience! It’s a 30-minute trek to reach the summit. The 360-degree views are breathtaking! You will stand where the Golden Hall once stood and survey the mountain panorama all around you as you fly the Rohan flag!

Day 11: Laketown and Pelennor Fields movie locations

Stop At: Twizel Walkway, Glen Lyon Road, Twizel New Zealand
Charge along the Pelennor Fields where King Theoden’s speech roused men to battle! Stunning location and scenery.
Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Lake Pukaki, New Zealand
Next we travel to the site of Laketown and enjoy a tour of the land. This is a very stunning location amongst the Great Lakes.

Day 12: 7 big Lord of the Rings locations

Stop At: Mavora Lakes Park, Fiordland National Park New Zealand
Today we visit several Lord of The Rings sites including the calling up of Shadowfax, the Orc funeral pyre, Fangorn Forest and where Sam and Frodo left the fellowship on the next stage of their journey.

Day 13: Arrowtown

Today we travel to the old gold mining town - Arrowtown, to pick up our pre-ordered Lord of the Rings jewellery and for the opportunity to Bungy Jump!

Day 14: Optional Activities Day

Today is a free day to try any optional activities you want in our adventure capital, Queenstown! Your guide will assist with bookings and transport.
