The tour would also be suitable for land based visitors to Napier. This tour is always hosted by Don Bird, a third generation Hawke's Bay winemaker and can be customized to suit your interests. On this tour you will discover the fasinating Art Deco history of Napier and learn about the 1931 earthquake that reshaped Napier.
Visit two iconic wineries for private tastings of reserve quality wines in a private setting. Taste a premium red wine amongst the vines in your hosts own vineyard and discover that great wine is made in the vineyard.
Visit your hosts farm and be amazed at breathtaking views while feeding the sheep and cows.

Itinerary

Experience the charming Art Deco and Spanish Mission architecture and the influence of the 1931 earthquake.
Travel north along the coast to the beautiful Esk Valley via the vibrant seaside village of Ahuriri. Visit 'The Grange', your host's farm with amazing rural, coastal and city views and enjoy feeding the sheep and other animals.
Taste wine amongst the vines, in your host's Esk Valley vineyard. The red wine was produced from grapes harvested from this vineyard.
Drive up to an Esk Valley Hills lookout that challenges Te Mata Peak for Hawke's Bay's, highest and most majestic views.
Visit two of Hawkes Bay's iconic wineries:
Linden Estate a small boutique winery located in the picturesque Esk Valley.
Mission Estate Winery was established in 1851 by pioneering French Missionaries. It is New Zealand’s oldest winery and the birth place of New Zealand wine.
At each of these two wineries you will be treated to a private wine tasting hosted by Don, a winemaker with 40 years experience in the industry. The tastings will include Reserve quality wines showcasing the best of Hawke's Bay.
