Join this 7-8-hour shore excursion from Tauranga to Rotorua which includes Kiwifruit Country, Okere Falls, Te Puia, Pohutu Geysers, a Maori cultural show, our native kiwibird, and traditional carving and weaving. Rotorua is in one of the most active volcanic areas of the world and provides a unique opportunity to enjoy geysers, boiling pools, bubbling mud, Maori culture and spectacular scenery all in the same place. Travel in a comfortable air-conditioned mini-bus that is designed to comfortably seat up to 14 people. Along the way, you will also get the chance to see spectacular rapids and waterfalls, rain forest, pristine lakes and stunning beaches.

Stop At: Kiwifruit Country, 316 State Highway 33, Paengaroa 3189 New Zealand

First grown commercially here in the Bay of Plenty, named Kiwi Fruit, they are now exported all over the World. The Bay of Plenty is truly the Kiwi Fruit Capital of the World. At Kiwifruit Country you will get a chance to see the vines and sample the fruit, including varieties you may not have sampled before. Hint… try the kiwi fruit flavoured ice cream!

Stop At: Okere Falls, Okere Falls, Rotorua District, Bay of Plenty Region, North Island

This may be your only chance to visit native subtropical New Zealand rainforest. A short walk through this lush jungle, with the chance to sample medicinal plants and learn about the birds and ecology of this unique country. Your walk ends at a set of spectacular waterfalls and rapids. The Kaituna River is a favourite for rafting, and if you are lucky you will see rafters brave the ‘grade 5’ highest vertical drop waterfall in the World.

Stop At: Te Puia, Hemo Road, Rotorua New Zealand

Te Puia is THE place to visit in Rotorua. It’s home to several geysers including Pahutu, the biggest geyser in the Southern Hemisphere, the geothermal valley of Te Whakarewarewatanga O Te Ope Taua A Wahiao, boiling pools, bubbling mud, a purpose built ‘Kiwi House’ , the Maori Arts and Crafts Institute and an excellent Maori Cultural show. It will be the highlight of your stay.

Stop At: Government Gardens, Queens Dr 9 Queens Dr, Rotorua New Zealand

Government Gardens in the middle of Rotorua is home to the old bath houses, beautiful trees and lawns and the famous Rose Garden. Time permitting we will stop for a quick photo opportunity.

Stop At: Kuirau Park, Ranolf Street and Lake Road, Rotorua New Zealand

Where else in the World can you find boiling pools and bubbling mud, in a public park, in the middle of a city? Time and energy permitting this unique place is worth a visit.

Stop At: Mt Maunganui Main Beach, Marine Parade, Mount Maunganui, Tauranga New Zealand

Mt Maunganui Beach, less than 10 minutes’ walk from your cruise ship is beautiful with golden sands and flanked by rhyolite (lava), from the vents of an extinct volcano and Mauao, Tauranga’s iconic ‘mountain’ guarding the entrance to the harbour. One of the most popular beaches in New Zealand with locals, and the site of some of the earliest visits by Polynesian boats over 800 years ago.
