Private Day Tour - Premium Nærøyfjord Cruise And "house Of Cheese" In Undredal
The trip goes by private car from Bergen to the old Viking village of Gudvangen, in the end of Nærøyfjorden (UNESCO). In the summer months we drive via the spectacular Stalhemskleiva. From Gudvangen we board the electric passaenger ship "Future of the fjords" and a two hours fjord cruise to Flåm.In Flåm we have time to visit Flåm church from 1667 before we drive to Stegastein viewpoint. Then the tour goes to Undredal, a charming little village along the Aurlandsfjord with a population of approx 100 people. Here we find the smallest church in Scandinavia, Undredal Stave Church from 1147. In Undredal there are about 500 goats and the village is famous for goat cheese, that is still produced the traditional way. In «ELDHUSET house of cheese» we will be served a lunch menu with white and brown local goat cheese, salami goat, sour cream, cloudberry jam, crisp bread and local fruit juices.

Stalheimskleiva is the name of the 1.5-km-long stretch of road that winds its way up the mountainside from the end of the Nærøydalen valley to the top at Stalheim. It is one of Northern Europe's steepest roads and offers beautiful views. The Stalheimskleiva road runs up a ridge between two cascading waterfalls that can both be seen from the road. To the north, you can see the Sivlefossen waterfall, which has a fall of about 140 meters. To the south, the Stalheimsfossen waterfall with a fall of 126 meters. The steepest gradient is 1 to 5, or 20 per cent, which makes Stalheimskleiva one of the steepest stretches of road in Northern Europe. On its way to the top, the road winds its way up 13 sharp hairpin bends. The Stalheimskleiva road was built by manual labour between 1842 and 1846 in order to improve the post road between Oslo and Bergen.
Stop At: Undredal Stave Church, Kyrkjevegen, Undredal 5746 Norway
Undredal Church is built as a stave church in 1147 and was called St. Nicholas Chapel. The church has white clapboard sidings and is the smallest in Scandinavia in regular use. Undredal Church probably received its present apperance from a substantial restoration which was carried out in 1722. In 1962 the church was internally restored and they recovered the ancient decorations we can see today. Three coats of paint were washed off to reveal the old distempered decorations which had been concealed for so long.The chandelier with its five carved deer heads is believed to be medieval, that's also one of the church bells. The pulpit is dated 1696 and the brass candlesticks on the altar 1702. The Church in Undredal is small in size, but it is a great cultural treasure and well worth a visit. Flåm chuch is situated 3 km up the Flåm valley. A wooden church constructed in 1667. The altar piece, dated 1681. The decorations of the choir date from the same periode, showing grapevine patterns. The church nave has been decorated some time in the 18th century with pictures of deciduous trees and different kinds of animal . These pictures are unique in their kind as chuch art. During the last restauration, an old piece of cloth, know to have been used as antependium as late as 1930, was found. Museum experts stated that it has been a knight's cloak, voven in venice around 1300. This is said to be the only of its kind found in Norway.

The Flåm Railway & Documentation Centre gives you an insight in the building of the Flåm Railway,its exiting history, and its technological development. The museum yields a deeper insight into one of the steepest railway in the world, as well as displays the day-to-day life of the engineers who built this unique line.
Various exhibitions give you the opportunity to learn more about the Flåm Railway through pictures, text, orginal objects and video presentations. Located in the old train station in Flåm. The Flåm railway Museum has a souvenir shop that offers Flåm Railway logo articles and items as well as other Norwegian handicrafts and souvenirs.

The 11 miles long fjord is only 800 ft wide in some parts. Since 2005, the Nærøyfjord has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It has also been rated by the National Geographic Society as the world's number one natural heritage site
