Escape to nature – this is a serious program for serious hikers only. Traversing mountains, climbing canyons, and crossing wadis – this is a curated collection of Oman’s best hikes and treks. Along the way of this epic adventure we will swim in lagoons, jump from waterfalls, and camp on the beach. We will also visit some of Oman’s best forts and castles for the pure pleasure of experiencing the regions beautiful architecture and culture.

Itinerary

Day 1: Muscat City Tour & Short Hike around Old Muttrah

Stop At: Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, Sultan Qaboos St, Muscat 113 Oman
City Tour of Muscat: Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, Sultan’s Palace; short hike around the old port/city of Muttrah. Overnight stay in hotel

Day 2: Bimmah Sinkhole / Wadi Shab / Fins Beach

Stop At: Bimmah Sinkhole, Hawiyat Najm Park, Muscat Oman
Visit and swim at Bimmah Sinkhole. Short hike through Wadi Shab to waterfall; short hike through wadi Tiwi.
Duration: 8 hours

Day 3: Wadi Tiwi Hike

Stop At: Wadi Tiwi, Tiwi Ash Sharqiyah, Al Sharqiyah Oman
Hike through Wadi Tiwi to the top of the mountain range, climbing along the top of the mountain ridge.

Day 4: Wadi Bani Khalid

Stop At: Wadi Bani Khalid, Wadi Bani Khalid, Ash-Sharqiyah Governorate
Begin hike from the mountain camp and cross through the mountains down to the oasis of Wadi Bani Khalid. Relax and swim in the pools of the wadi.

Day 5: Wadi Bani Khalid & Wahiba Sands

Stop At: Wahiba Sands, Wahiba Sands, Ash-Sharqiyah Governorate
Canyoning through Wadi Bani Khalid; drive to Wahiba Sands (extra activities available: camel riding, sandboarding etc.).

Day 6: Jebel Shams / Beehive Tombs / Bahla Fort

Stop At: Jebel Shams, Al Hamra Oman
Drive to Jebel Shams, up to al Ayn and visit the 5,000 year old Beehive Tombs (UNESCO world heritage site). Tour the completely renovated and restored Bahla Fortress.

Day 7: Grand Canyon / Misfat Arbrieen / Abandoned Village

Stop At: Wadi Ghul - Oman's Grand Canyon, Al Hamra Oman
Hike the “Balcony Walk”, around the rim of the Grand Canyon of Arabia and visit the abandoned village, caves and small lake. Visit mountain oasis of Misfat Abrieen.

Day 8: Jebel Shams

Stop At: Jebel Shams, Al Hamra Oman
Jebel Shams mountain ascent (10 – 12 hour hike); drive down to al Hamra.

Day 9: Al Hamra / Balat Sayd / Wadi Bani Awf

Stop At: Al Hamra, Al Hamra, Ad-Dakhiliyah Governorate
Visit abandoned mudbrick village of Al Hamra; drive across mountain village to the picturesque village of Balad Sayt; short canyon trek.

Day 10: Jebel Akhdar / Wukan Village (Day 1 of 2 day crossing)

Stop At: Jebel Akhdar, Al Hajar Mountains Range, Nizwa 611 Oman
Begin two day hike across Jebel Akhdar ridge. Begin at Wukan Village, through the hanging gardens of the valley. Climb to the top of the mountain ridge, 2,300m.

Day 11: Jebel Akhdar / Wukan Village (Day 2 of 2 day crossing)

Stop At: Jebel Akhdar, Al Hajar Mountains Range, Nizwa 611 Oman
Descent from mountain ridge to the village of Hadash, along an ancient trail. Finish at Wukan Village. Drive to local farm with pool.
Duration: 8 hours

Day 12: Waterfall at Wadi Hawqayn / Rock Art / Al Hazm Castle

Stop At: Wadi Alhoqain, Oman
Visit and swim at the waterfall of Wadi Hawqayn; visit al Hazm castle and the rock art of Sahtan.

Day 13: Muscat City tour - Final Day

Stop At: Royal Opera House, Al Kharijiyah Street, Muscat 113 Oman
