Itinerary
Ride the Panama Canal historical train from Panama City (Pacific Ocean) to Colon (Atlantic Ocean). The Panama Canal Railway opened in 1855 and was the worlds first transcontinental railroad, creating an easy way to transverse between the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans. It was also the worlds most expensive railroad per kilometer ever built, costing approximately $8 million at the time.
The route stretches 47.6 miles across the Isthmus of Panama from Balboa to Colon and viceversa. The train boast of it's luxurious passenger service, which allows travelers to enjoy a journey through the lush jungles of Panama flanking the scenic Panama Canal. It caters both to business executives commuting between Panama City and Colon, as well as tourists traveling from Colons cruise terminals to Panama City.
Second, we'll visit Aguas Claras, Gatun Locks to see the newly expanded Panama Canal facilities; while there watch the documentary that talks about the history from construction days to the present; really enlightening.
Lastly, we'll visit the Fort San Lorenzo and roam through the amazing fortress it once was.
