Inca Trail 2 days
We will visit the most incredible hiking trail in Latin America: a 500-year-old path to Machu Picchu. During the hike we will enjoy a unique environment and our steps will take us, among other spectacular places, to the Archaeological Zone of Wiñaywayna and Puerta del Sol, the entrance to the sacred area of the Inca citadel. The next morning, one of the most magical moments on the planet awaits us: watching the legendary sunrise at Machu Picchu. Then we will take a guided tour of the archaeological ruins.
Itinerary
Day 1: Cusco - Km. 104 - Aguas Calientes
Stop At: Inca Trail, Cusco 08000 Peru
We will be picked up quite early in the morning from our accommodation in Cusco. From here we will be transferred to the train station and take the train to the famous KM. 104. Here, the famous Inca Trail begins and this is where we begin our march as well. We will start with a three-hour hike to the archaeological zone of Wiñaywayna, which is roughly 2600 meters above sea level and is believed to have been the home of the ancient priests of Machu Picchu.

Stop At: Inca Trail, Machu Picchu Peru
We will eat and rest a little before we continue walking along the Inca Trail until we reach the Puerta del Sol, the access to the sacred enclosure of Machu Picchu. Then we will descend by bus to the Vista Machu Picchu hotel in Aguas Calientes, where we will stay for the night. We will have dinner and have time to rest, walk around Aguas Calientes or optionally visit the famous thermal baths in the city.

Day 2: Aguas Calientes - Machu Picchu - Cusco
Stop At: Machu Picchu, 08680, Peru
We will get up very early and have breakfast at the hotel. Then, we can choose between going up to Machu Picchu on foot or by bus. Once in Machu Picchu we can appreciate the impressive scene of the sunrise above the ancient ruins. Afterwards, we will enjoy a 2 hour long guided tour of the archaeological zone, where we will learn about the secrets and history of this fascinating place. After the guided tour of Machu Picchu, we will have enough time to enjoy it on our own until we take the bus back to Aguas Calientes. In Aguas Calientes we can also eat lunch before taking the train back to Ollantaytambo. The train ride that will take us to Ollantaytambo lasts roughly 1:30 hours and passes through a diverse landscape. Once we arrive at the train station in Ollantaytambo, a minibus will be waiting for us to bring us safely back to the center of Cusco.
