The Peruvian Charango is a native Andean instrument with a very melodious sound. The Charango is played all throughout the Andes every day in many feasts. It's history goes back to the Spanish conquest of South America,

My name is Killary and I will be your host for this class. I am a Peruvian singer and music teacher. This class will be held in my home, where I myself give singing lessons.

The Charango class will be taught by Camilo Calderon, in my opinion he is one of the best Charango players around. He is also one of my best friends and he plays with me, in my band. He also loves to teach; I can pledge to that, he's my Charango coach. He also teaches and plays at other very important institutions and universities in Peru.

We make Peruvian music and we teach Peruvian music, that's what we love to do. So come over and we'll have some fun

Itinerary

You will be be received at a Peruvian musician's home and there you will all take a moment to get to know each other: You, the instructor specialized in Peruvian Charango and a translator/producer who who will be making sure the class goes smoothly and without interruptions.

You will learn a little about the Charango, the result of a combining native Peruvian and Spanish cultures. You will know the Charango's secret history and how it has reached your hands today.

You will learn the basic positions and strums of the instrument, using methods specially designed for beginners. By the end of the class, you will be able to play some Peruvian tunes and you will have material to continue learning back at home.

The lesson is designed to have a clear communication and easy-to-execute actions for beginners.
