Itinerary

Day 1: Cusco City

Stop At: Cusco Cathedral, Portal Belen Plaza de Armas, Cusco 08002 Peru
This day begins with us picking you up from the airport and taking you on a pleasant drive through the narrow streets of Cusco to your hotel. We will allow you to check in, put your things in your room, and rest for a moment before we pick you up at 2pm for a group visit of the centre of Cusco. Don’t grab a drink just yet; you’ll have plenty of time for that! A professional guide will accompany us who will first present the Cathedral (built in Baroque style and having paintings of the Cusquena school) and the temple of Qoricancha known as the gold covered temple. Then we will appreciate the enchantment of the temple of the Thunderclap, Rain, Lightning, Rainbow and Stars and also the temple of Santo Domingo. These attractions are important as Peru has constantly undergone changes in architectural development, religion and policy since the colonial introduction. We will move on to visit the local market of San Pedro which is an interesting place to visit as the locales shop for local crops and other things needed for daily life here. We will return to Cusco around 6pm; this is somewhat of an acclamation day to allow the body to get used to the high altitude for the next 4 days. So be careful with the drinks this day!

Here we will visit the archaeological complex that is as old as the great stones it was constructed with. The complex presents a collection of houses, temples, platforms, colcas (deposits) and several enclosures which functions have not yet been determined. The village of Ollantaytambo is seen as the last Andean village because of the houses and narrow streets that shows us the Incan style of constructing.
