Located above the raging, glacier-fed Apurimac river, surrounded by snow-capped peaks and seated on a high ridge, Choquequirao is a remote and rarely visited "lost city of the Incas". The archeological complex is considered as the sister of Machu Picchu citadel. On this adventurous 4-days trek we will hike through high Andean landscapes, and pass through biologically diverse cloud forests ecosystems. We are specialists in this amazing route and offer the most frequent departures with experienced and professional guides.

Itinerary

Day 1: Cusco - Capuliyoc - Chiquisca

Stop At: Capuliyoc, Sendero a Choquequirao, 03110, Peru
We will pick you up around 5:00 am to drive about 4 hours towards Cachora, beginning of the trek. We will start the hike up to Capuliyoc, where we will stop for lunch and enjoy some great views of Apurimac Canyon and snow-capped mountains. We will keep walking in the afternoon to Chiquisca, where we will spend the first night.

Accommodation included: Overnight at Chiquisca campsite, in tent.

Day 2: Chiquisca - Maranpata - Choquequirao

Stop At: Choquequirao Inca Citadel, Choquequirao, Santa Rosa Camino a Choquequirao, Cusco 08000 Peru
After an early breakfast, we will descend to the Apurimac river and then walk uphill to the village of Maranpata, where we will have lunch, enjoying the spectacular views of the Choquequirao site. Afterwards we will keep walking to the ruins and have a first guided tour of Choquequirao complex. Tonight we will sleep at our second campsite, located 20 minutes away from the ruins.

Day 3: Choquequirao - Chiquisca

Stop At: Choquequirao Inca Citadel, Choquequirao, Santa Rosa Camino a Choquequirao, Cusco 08000 Peru
After an early breakfast, we will have a second opportunity to explore the ruins before heading back to the rural community of Maranpata. There, we will stop again for lunch. This afternoon we will keep trekking to go back to Chiquisca where we will spend the third night.

Day 4: Chiquisca - Capuliyoc - Cusco

Stop At: Capuliyoc, Sendero a Choquequirao, 03110, Peru
After breakfast, we will walk uphill towards Capuliyoc pass, where we can enjoy the spectacular views of Apurimac Canyon and the surroundings mountains before heading back to Cachora. There, our private transportation will be waiting for you, to take us to the archeological site of Saywite, that we are going to explore before going back to Cusco.
