Private Salkantay Trek 5 Days 4 Nights

This amazing trek runs around the base of the magnificent Salkantay mountain, one of the highest and most stunning in the Andes. The Salkantay trek has recently been named on the National Geographic Ultimate Adventure bucket list. As the most popular alternative to the Inca Trail, it is open to everybody and offers astonishing natural scenery all along the way.

Itinerary

Day 1: Cusco - Humantay Lake - Soraypampa

Stop At: Humantay Lake, Cusco 08002 Peru
We will pick you up from your hotel at 4:30 am and have a scenic 3 hours drive to Mollepata, where we will have breakfast in a local restaurant. Afterwards we will get back on the road to reach Challacancha, starting point of the trek. We will start walking through the Inca Channel and towards Soraypampa, to reach our first campsite in approx 4 hours. After lunch, we will walk way and back to the Laguna Humantay (3-4 hours) and will enjoy the panoramic views of the snow-capped mountains. Night at Soraypampa Domes Campsite.

Day 2: Soraypampa - Chaullay Campsite

Stop At: Salkantay, 08710, Peru
We will start walking around 5:30 am after an early breakfast. We will be hiking uphill about 4 hours to get to the Salkantay pass, the highest point of this adventure. After a rest there, we will start walking downhill towards the warmer high jungle and reach Chaullay, our 2nd campsite where we will spend the night in tent.

Day 3: Chaullay - La Playa Domes - Santa Teresa natural hot springs

Stop At: Santa Teresa, Santa Teresa, Sacred Valley, Cusco Region
After breakfast we will start trekking through the upper jungle, crossing valleys and rivers, waterfalls, coca and tropical fruits plantations, to reach La Playa in 4 hours approx, our domes campsite. This day we will visit a coffee plantation, and also go to the natural hot springs of Santa Teresa, where we will relax after the great effort of the firsts days.

Day 4: La Playa - Llactapata - Aguas Calientes

Stop At: Aguas Calientes, Aguas Calientes, Machu Picchu, Sacred Valley, Cusco Region
After breakfast, we will start walking through the high jungle towards Llactapata Inca ruins, where we will have the first views of Machu Picchu in the far distance. Afterwards we will walk done towards Hydroelectrica, where we will stop for lunch. And then we will walk two more hours to reach Aguas Calientes, where we will spend the 4th night.

Day 5: Aguas Calientes - Machu Picchu - Cusco

Stop At: Machu Picchu, Machu Picchu, Sacred Valley, Cusco Region
This is our last day and you are about to visit the famous Inca ruins of Machu Picchu. We will wake up early to have breakfast at the hotel and take the bus to the ruins entrance. We will enter into the site around 6:00 am where we will have a guided tour for about 2 hours. Afterwards you will have some free time to explore the ruins by yourselves or to climb one of the 2 summits, Huayna Picchu or Montaña Machu Picchu (if available). Then you will go back down to Aguas Calientes, to take your train back to Ollantaytambo, where our private transportation will be waiting for you to take you back to your hotel in Cusco.
