SALKANTAY TREK ITINERARIO 5DIAS Y 4 NOCHES
DAY 1: Cusco - Soraypampa - Humantay Lake - Quiswarniyoc Private Camp
After picking up everyone from their respective places or hotel, we left Cusco around 5:45 am to the town of Mollepata by car for 2 hours. Once in Mollepata, we stop for a delicious breakfast and also pay an entrance fee of 10 soles to the local municipality. Then we continue by car another hour to Soraypampa, where we will meet the muleteers and horses that will carry all the luggage, food and the 7 kilos of personal belongings of each hiker that we will give them in duffel bags. We started the hike uphill towards Lake Humantay for 2 hours. When you arrive at the lagoon, you will have enough time to explore, photograph the place and the guide will explain all the meaning of the Humantay lagoon. After a couple of hours at the lake, we started to descend to the exclusive Quiswarniyoc camp for 2 hours to have a healthy lunch. After lunch you have free time to explore the beautiful area and also, if you like hiking more, you can go to the Mirador de Salkantay to enjoy a panoramic view of the whole region. If you are tired, you can rest in the cabins with glass doors, inside there are pillows, sleeping pads and night lighting.
DAY 2: Quiswarniyuc - Salkantay Pass - Huayracmachay - Chaullay Camp.
The second day of the hike is the most difficult because it takes you up to 4630 m and 20 km of walking. The cooks will wake you up around 5:00 am with a cup of hot coca tea, then have time to repack and prepare for the nutritious breakfast served around 5:45 am. Afterwards, it is time to start climbing to the highest point of the Salkantay trail, which is 4630 m, which takes 3 to 4 hours, all uphill trekking with a regular and slow pace. Once you are at the highest point, you will have time to enjoy the mountains, to take pictures and the guide will teach you about the gods of the mountain and will also be part of the small Andean ritual for the gods of the Apus mountain. Then a 2-hour walk to the lunch place begins to rest and enjoy a delicious lunch. After continuing down for three more hours until the second camp that is Chaullay,
The camp is called Chaullay, it is located at 2900 m at the beginning of the area of the Peruvian Amazon.
DAY 3: Chaullay - Sahuayaco Beach - Santa Teresa - Hot springs.
The third day is beautiful but warm. You will already be in the jungle area. We wake you up around 6:00 am with a cup of coca tea, then we offer you a delicious breakfast. After breakfast, around 7:00 am, the trek to Sahuayaco Beach begins for approximately 5 hours along the Santa Teresa Valley, which is formed by the Salkantay River. Along the valley you have the opportunity to see a plantation such as coffee, bananas, avocados, coca, passion fruit and much more after 5 hours of walking, you will arrive at La Playa Sahuayaco, from where take the local transport for one hour to Santa Teresa , which is the third camp.
Once in the camp, you will have a delicious lunch, then there is enough time to prepare for those who want to go to the beautiful hot springs of Colcampayo, which are 15 minutes by car from the camp. In the hot springs, you can spend a couple of hours or whatever you want or what the group decides. The hot springs are open air, natural and clean water, which makes it an ideal place to relax, then return to the camp where you will have tea time and a hot dinner.
DAY 4: Santa Teresa - Lucmabamba - Llactapata - Hidrolectrica - Aguas Calientes.
Llactapata are the only Inca ruins along the Salkantay trail that you have the opportunity to visit the fourth day, and from Llactapata you can see Machu Picchu, there is a beautiful view of Machu Picchu from a different angle. For this beautiful hike, start very early in Santa Teresa with breakfast around 5:30 am, then take local transportation for 45 minutes to Lucmabamba to start the trek uphill for 3 hours on the original Inca trail that takes you to the Inca ruins. of Llactapata. You will have enough time to enjoy the views of Machu Picchu, the Huayna Picchu mountain, and you will see once again the Salkantay mountain if you are lucky with the weather. Afterwards, start walking downhill to Hidroelectrica for 2 hours to have a nutritious lunch and rest for a while. Then the last part of the walk to Aguas Calientes begins for 3 more hours along the train track. Once you arrive in the small town, we will take you to the hostel where you will have time to rest by showering. Around 7:00 p.m., the guide will organize the last dinner at the restaurant in Aguas Calientes after we go to sleep because the next day must start very early to go to Machu Picchu.
DAY 5: Machu Picchu - Cusco
The last day of the tour that will visit Machu Picchu. You should get up around 4:00 a.m. to prepare for the hike to the main entrance of Machu Picchu. After you take your breakfast package, you will start walking to the Puente Ruinas control point for 30 minutes, which will be open at 5:00 am, where you will have to show your passport and your Machu Picchu tickets. After passing the first checkpoint, you will climb the entire top floor for an hour to the main gate of Machu Picchu to be there around 6:00 am. Once everyone gathers at the door, you enter Machu Picchu for the guided tour for 2 hours and 30 minutes to learn all about the lost city of the Incas. After the guided tour, you will have free time to explore the Inca city of Machu Picchu on your own. At the end you will have time to get to know the city of Aguas Calientes and board your return train to Cusco 6:20 p.m. arriving at Ollantaytambo at 8:30 p.m. where your transportation will take you to Cusco, arriving at 10:30 p.m.
