Short Inca Trail to Machu Picchu 2 days/1 night a part of Perus best-known trail system, the Inca Trail, visited by thousands of tourists every year. This still-thrilling, two-day program covers 13km of the Inca Trail and joins the Classic 4-day route at the truly beautiful archaeological site of Wiñaywayna, continuing along stone path carved from the mountainside until the Inti Punku or Sun Gate and the first view of the awaited Machu Picchu. The second day is a full day in the Inca citadel.
Itinerary
Day 1: Day 1 Cusco / Sun Gate / Machu Picchu (L, D)
Stop At: Winay Wayna, Machu Picchu Peru
We will pick you up from your hotel early in the morning to go to the train station in Ollantaytambo and then catch the train to the starting point of the hike at km.104 following railroad to Machupicchu. Upon arriving, we will pass by the checkpoint, where the passports and permits is going to be checked. After five minutes of walking, we will visit the archeological site of Chachabamba, and then begin the ascent up of the 8 km trail to the impressive Wiñaywayna archaeological site, that is an agricultural area with many terraces, a religious and urban area, which make the place complete and beautiful. On the way up, we will be able to enjoy magnificent views of the Urubamba River Valley, the Choquesuysuy archaeological complex on the opposite side of the river, and a beautiful waterfall minutes away from Wiñaywayna.
Our lunch is going to be in Wiñaywayna campsite, then to for about an hour of trek along a trail of flat stones on the edges of the highland jungle cliffs taking us to Intipunku or the Sun Gate. From this point, we will have the first view of the sacred citadel of Machupicchu. From Intipunku we will descend to Machupicchu and then take the bus to Aguas Calientes, where we will be have an accommodation.

Day 2: Machu Picchu / Cusco (B)
Stop At: Santuario Historico de Machu Picchu, Machu Picchu Peru
Early in the morning after the breakfast, we will start going up by bus to Machupicchu. After arriving to the main gate, we will be part of the guided tour of Machupicchu for approximately 2 hours, and have free time to spend in Machu Picchu. We need to return to Aguas Calientes at lunchtime, and continuing heading to the train station with least 30 mins prior our train departure time to Ollantaytambo. There will the transport to Cusco waiting for us, getting into the city.
