Sunrise at Machu Picchu 2 days

For two days we will have the opportunity to discover Machu Picchu without hurry, enjoying one of the most beautiful train journeys in the world, from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes. We will stay in this small town, where we will have time to relax going for a walk or taking a bath in its hot springs. The next morning a incredible moment awaits us, watch the sunrise in Machu Picchu and take a guided tour of the Inca citadel.

Itinerary

Day 1: Cusco - Aguas Calientes

Stop At: Cusco 08007, Peru
The guide will pick you up at your hotel in Cusco at 9:00 am. Once the group gets together we will take the minibus that will bring us to our first stop: Ollantaytambo station. Once there we will take the train to Aguas Calientes. The train trip lasts roughly an hour and a half and we will pass along spectacular landscapes with views of the snowy mountains, Vilcanota river, the semi tropical zone and the high jungle area.

Stop At: Hot Springs (Aguas Calientes), Signposted from main square, Aguas Calientes, Machu Picchu Peru
The guide will accompany us to our hotel (Sol de los Andes or similar) and will explain all the details to prepare us for our visit to Machu Picchu on the next day. During the rest of the day we will have time to walk around Aguas Calientes, visit its market, take a bath in the famous hot springs, and enjoy the surroundings.

Day 2: Aguas Calientes - Machu Picchu - Cusco

Stop At: Hot Springs (Aguas Calientes), Signposted from main square, Aguas Calientes, Machu Picchu Peru
In order to see the sunrise in Machu Picchu we will have to wake up early. At the hotel breakfast will be served around four in the morning and we will take the bus that connects Aguas Calientes with the archaeological park of Machu Picchu.

Stop At: Machu Picchu, 08680, Peru
Upon arrival we will have time to enjoy one of the best moments of the tour: the amazing sunrise above this mystical place. Later we will take part in a two-hour guided tour held by a professional guide, who will introduce us to the history and secrets of this fascinating place.

Stop At: Hot Springs (Aguas Calientes), Signposted from main square, Aguas Calientes, Machu Picchu Peru
We will return to Aguas Calientes to have lunch in one of the many restaurants and then board the train that will take us back to Ollantaytambo. The train ride that will take us to Ollantaytambo lasts again roughly 1:30 hours and passes through a diverse landscape. Once we arrive at the train station in Ollantaytambo, a minibus will be waiting for us to bring us safely back to the center of Cusco.
