Itinerary

Day 1: CUSCO

Stop At: Sacsayhuaman, Cusco 08000 Peru
Welcome at Cusco Airport and transfer to your comfortable hotel.

Afternoon City Tour to explore Cusco city, which was the capital of the vast and impressive Incan Civilization. The Cathedral, on the northeast side of the Plaza de Armas is the main attraction, its construction began in 1560 and completed in 1664, in the Baroque and Renaissance style, the Cusco Cathedral houses an impressive collection of art work, with over 400 canvases from the Cusquena school. Then, visit the impressive archaeological sites around the city: Saqsayhuaman, an Incan complex with megalithic constructions, where the Inti Raymi or the Sun Festival is held every June. Explore also Q’enqo, a place used for ceremonial purposes, fertility rites and celebrations of the solstices and equinoxes. Once back to the city, visit the very colorful San Pedro “farmers market” and finally proceed to San Blas, the Artisans’ neighborhood of narrow and high cobblestone streets; visit its beautiful little plaza, local coffee shops and discover unique workshops. Visit the Pre-Colombian museum where you can appreciate the ancient civilization’s heritage, pottery, gold and silver ornaments.

Day 2: CUSCO – AGUAS CALIENTES – CUSCO

Stop At: Hot Springs (Aguas Calientes), Signposted from main square, Aguas Calientes, Machu Picchu Peru
Morning, transfer to train station to board the tourist train to Machupicchu. This includes carriages with panoramic windows which enhance the impressive scenic view. During the 1.5-hour journey a light snack is provided. You will arrive at Aguas Calientes town and will be transferred to Machupicchu Archaeological site by shuttle bus.

Tour at Machupicchu Historic Sanctuary (2 hours approx). Explore the enigmatic complex of Machupicchu accompanied by your tour guide, who leads the way through the site, providing varied information on key areas of interest. The history of Machupicchu is very interesting. It’s still unknown what the site exactly was in terms of its place in Incan life. Some scholars believe that Machupicchu was a summer country resort for the elite Incans. However, other theories affirm that Machupicchu was one of the greatest ceremonial centers in the entire Incan Empire.

Afternoon board the tourist train back to Cusco.
