Vinicunca Ausangate Tour

The Vilcanota Mountain Range is the last barrier between the ancient Inca territory and the large green areas of the Amazon. This circuit allows us to enter one of the wildest mountain ranges of the Andes mountain range the Apu Ausangate, where we will also find the Rainbow or Vinicunca mountain

Itinerary

Day 1: From Cusco to Upis

Stop At: Ausangate, Cusco 08002 Peru
We leave in the morning in the south-west direction of the city of Cusco. Our first stop will be in the small town of Urcos that is considered the capital of the Vilcanota mountain range where the Apu Ausangate is located. Our route continues until we reach the Pilluyo Pass from where you can see the Apu Ausangate that is considered as the guardian and protector of the city of Cusco. Finally we arrive at Tinki starting point of our adventure and also where we will find our team of muleteers with their horses that will accompany us throughout the tour. Start of the walk about 6 hours to reach our first UPIS camp at 4380 meters at the foot of the Ausangate.

Day 2: From Upis to Pucacocha

Stop At: Ausangate, Cusco 08002 Peru
Slowly we begin to climb a path full of stones, this rocky chaos allows us to meet with some very peculiar animals the famous Viscachas family near the Argentine Chinchillas. Our road goes to the highest part of today the Arapa Pass at 4730 meters of altitude, before us the whole landscape becomes lunar, hills, hills everything changes before us, then we continue with our downhill path where we will cross through a series of lagoons until reaching the Pucacocha Lagoon located at 4500 meters of altitude where we established our camp after almost 6 hours of walking

Day 3: From Pucacocha to Vinicunca Camp

Stop At: Ausangate, Cusco 08002 Peru
We leave the camp and slowly begin to climb in the direction of our first Step of the day at 4900 meters. Upon reaching our highest point we will benefit from an extraordinary view of the Ausangate. We begin the descent until we find our chef who is waiting for us with a fortifying and especially delicious lunch before winning the second Pass at 4900 meters of altitude. After winning the pass just in front of us, the Vinicunca Valley extends. We begin our descent slowly to our camp at 4700 meters high, which we will gain after almost 7 hours of walking.

Day 4: From Vinicunca camp to Unuqori

Stop At: Cerro Colorado Vinicunca, Apv- Tipon-n11, Cusco 08004 Peru
Early in the morning we leave our camp until the Vinicunca Pass before the classic tourists begin to arrive, place from which we will benefit from an incredible view of the Rainbow Mountain. After having calmly appreciated the magic of this mountain, we headed towards the red valley, a place rarely visited by tourists, but with incredible natural beauty, after almost 7 hours of walking we arrived at our last camp at 4500 meters high

Day 5: From Unoqori to Labraco

Stop At: Cerro Colorado Vinicunca, Apv- Tipon-n11, Cusco 08004 Peru
After a few hours of descent we will find our vehicle waiting for us to take us back to Cusco. End point of this adventure in the Andes mountain range and end point with the team that accompanied them.
