Waqra Pukara Trek 1 Day Huaynas Expeditions
The Waqra Pukara trek is one of the new alternatives of a full day hike in Cusco, ideal for people who love walking and adventurous, it is also considered a good alternative of a training for people who have not yet done the Inca Trail or Salkantay Trek.
Waqra Pukara could have been the fortress, sanctuary, astronomical observatory ?. These are the interpretations for this enigmatic monument of classical Inca architecture that stands at 4, 300 meters above sea level. In the abysses of the Apurímac River canyon south of the City of Cusco.
Itinerary

Stop At: Complejo Arqueologico Waqrapukara "Acos", 08000, Cusco 08000, Peru
We will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco from 3:00 a.m. to 3:30 a.m., once the whole group is concentrated at 3:45. Am. We will start the trip for 2 ½ hours in our private tourist transportation to Sangarará Village, then we will arrive to Pitumarca District where we will have our breakfast.
Then we will return to our transport that will take us for about 30 more minutes through a zigzagging unpaved road to the place called Punta Highway. Place where we will stop about 10 minutes to make the final preparations, before starting our walk towards Waqra Pukara.
We will walk along a flat road slightly stretched with small ups and downs for the first 2 hours, we will also go through beautiful landscapes, such as high Andean lakes (Cochas) where the descent begins to reach the Waqra Pukara viewpoint where we will stop to take the first pictures of the Archaeological Complex of Waqra Pukara.
Then we will begin with the descent for about 40 minutes until we reach the same ceremonial center. As we approach, we will observe gigantic rock formations that give depth to the Apurímac River Valley.
We visit the ceremonial center of Waqra Pukara for an hour and a half and after a mandatory photo session, we will begin the return journey for an hour of ascent to the Mirador de Waqra Pukara where we will have a rest of 10 minutes.
Then we will continue the climb for about 30 minutes until we get back to (Cochas). Where the road begins, stretched for 2 hours to reach the tip of the road, here we will be waiting for our transportation that will bring us back to the City of Cusco and that will take 2 ½ hours. Arriving at approximately 6:00 p.m.
