Bantayan Island from Cebu City
Head north inside the province of Cebu, (in the center of the Philippines) and visit the stunning beauty in the island of Bantayan. Bantayan now houses some local fishing villages, but it once served as a Spanish base against Moro invasions due to its strategic location. Its fortifications and watchtowers gave it the name Bantayan sa Hari (Watchtower of the King), which was later shortened to Bantayan.
A very early morning pick up from your hotel and you are set to travel to the nearest seaport heading to Bantayan Island. Upon arrival at seaport of Sta Fe, you will experience to ride a rolling off rolling on (RoRo) Ferry to Bantayan Island and your tour starts in the stunning beauty of Bantayan Island.
First, you will visit and experience swimming inside a cave as the cold water refresh your tired body from a long hour of travel from Cebu City. This cave is inside a beach resort and locally know as Ogtong Cave.
After that, a magnificent multiple beach head awaits you as Bantayans popularity is growing, particularly among the backpacking crowd but its beaches remain well-kept and uncrowded. These beaches offers a clear and scenic place to relax and swim; Paradise Beach, Kota Beach, Sta. Fe Beach, walk in the Unique Beach and Beach Placid, lay back in Anika Beach Resort. Also, an Island Hopping for 2.5 hours in the VIRGIN ISLAND and HILANTAGAAN ISLAND will surely amazed you. A visit to the Mangrove Plantation along the way is additional side trip of your tour.
A old park named Kota Park, look hard enough and you can still find traces of its heritage, from old Spanish-era houses to dilapidated fort ruins. The St. Peter and St. Paul Parish Church was finished in 1863, making it over a century old. The church was built with coral and limestone and features stone carvings of saints (as opposed to the wood carvings typical of the time). Then head back to Cebu City via the same route.
