Dumaguete Countryside Tour with Silliman University and Pulangbato Waterfalls

DUMAGUETE CITY is known as “The City of Gentle People.” It’s easy to see why – this is a serene university town filled with genteel locals, and its atmosphere is conducive to artistic and scholarly pursuits. Silliman University is the most prominent among Dumaguete’s universities and colleges. Established in 1901, it is the oldest American-founded university in Asia. Stroll around the campus and visit the Silliman Anthropological Museum, which contains artifacts that date back 2,000 years and an ethnographic compendium of the different indigenous groups of the Philippines.

Forbes Magazine's "7 Best Places to Retire Around the World". An early morning tour inside the oldest University in Visayas Region: The Silliman University.  Inside is a quiet, peaceful seaside community with a population of 116,392. The university campus has a total land area of 62 hectares composed of the main campus along Hibbard Avenue, and the campus for the College of Agriculture and the Institute of Environmental and Marine Sciences to the north. Dotted by large acacia trees, the main campus is home to most of the colleges and schools of the university and is adjacent to the city's downtown district. Occupying almost one-third of the downtown area, the campus faces the sea to the east, flanked by its portals which are now considered symbols of the school and city. The three most prominent portals are the Gates of Knowledge, Opportunity and Service. The Gate of Knowledge is the current and main entrance; it is the starting point of the two-kilometer-long Hibbard Avenue which was named after Dr. David Sutherland Hibbard, one of the founders of the institution. The other prominent landmarks on the main campus are the Silliman Hall, which now houses the Anthropology Museum; the Silliman University Church; the Robert B. and Metta J. Silliman Library; and the Claire Isabel McGill Luce Auditorium, the largest theater outside Metro Manila. It is frequented by tourists so the university maintains a campus guided tour done by the students to ferry visitors around the campus.

After the tour inside the campus, you will visit the city in a rolling tour, an Exotic University Zoo is also available if the Zoo is open and prepare to see and feel the heat of the Valencia Sulfur Vents along the way to the famous falls in Valencia. Enjoy the swimming at Pulangbato Twin Waterfalls with Redrock River. Swimming at Red Rock Hot Spring will also give you a once in a lifetime experience.

Before dropping off at your hotel, a sightseeing in Tierra Alta with a sidetrip in Kataal WW2 Museum will be offered.
