In the footsteps of John Paul II of Kraków
Wadowice is the hometown of Karol Wojtyła - the Pope Johanes Paul II. Right here, next to the market and the Basilica of the Sacrifice of Mary, in Kościelna Street, there is a rather modest apartment building, in which on May 18, 1920 the future Pope opens the world has come. In the former apartment of the Wojtyła family, elements of the former interior furnishings as well as many memorabilia related to the life and work of the future Pope were collected, such as: family photos, copies of Karol's school records, documents from the next stages of his life, and even skis, a backpack and a paddle, proof of his passion for tourism. On display are manuscripts of his works, various publications on John Paul II from many countries and a collection of photos of visits by the Pope in Wadowice.

The museum is housed in a residential building where he once lived with his family. Currently, the entire tenement has been beautifully renovated and modernized. The heart of the museum is the 3-room apartment of the future Pope.

The market square was the meeting place of John Paul II in Wadowice during his pilgrimages to his hometown. The young Karol Wojtyla went every day on the market, attended a public school and later a high school. In the square stands a monument of Pope John Paul II.

Basilica of the sacrifice of the Blessed Virgin Mary with a wondrous image of the Mother of God of eternal help. Here Karol Wojtyła was christened on June 20, 1920. Later, the Holy Communion and lived right next to the church. Since 2006 a statue of John Paul II stands in front of the basilica.

The worship of this place is a living religious cult. Kalwaria Zebrzydowska is the most important pilgrimage center in Poland, next to Częstochowa, on the famous Pope Street, which leads from Wadowice to Krakow. The central part of the village is the famous Passion and Marian shrine, as well as the monastery and the Kalwaric paths with historic chapels.
