The renowned town dominated by its red sandstone castle dating back mainly to Moorish times and by the memories of its former cork industry. You will have time to stop and visit the village of Silves and the Castle of the city.

We continue onto the golden sands of the Algarve passing Praia da Rocha en route to Lagos.

But there is also a history of sailors and pirates, the result of a complicity with the sea that persists in the colorful trawlers that bring the fish to the fish auction, or in the Marina where yachts from all over the world rock.

Sagres displays some of the most impressive landscapes in the Algarve. The force of nature is so strong at the southwestern tip of continental Europe that visitors soon realize why the ancient settlers dubbed it sacred, because it was the starting point of Portuguese explorers in the fifteenth century into the unknown and how managed to maintain its fascinating natural beauty.

Classified as a National Monument, the original fortress of Infante D. Henrique, dating from the 15th century, was destroyed during Sir Francis Drake's raids on the southern coasts of Spain and Portugal during the 16th century, and was rebuilt during the 16th to 18th centuries.

Stop At: Cape Saint Vincent, Cape Saint Vincent, Faro District, Algarve
Fortress built in the 16th century to protect the coast from frequent attacks by Moorish pirates. It appeared in the place where was a medieval convent, which according to legend would have welcomed the remains of St. Vincent.
It is a military construction of polygonal plan with an entrance portal surmounted by royal shield and had drawbridge.
Inside the fortress is the São Vicente lighthouse, built in 1904 and still in operation today.

Setubal is a city that has always had a close connection to the seas, and this is celebrated along the newly rejuvenated waterfront, which encompasses the colourful fishing harbour, the popular urban park and the Troia Peninsula ferry terminal. Within the charming historic centre is a maze of narrow alleys, hidden plazas, and family-owned shops, along with Portugals largest fish market.

Then comes a scenic route over the Arrábida Mountain Range, an area preserved as a Natural Park, with amazing scenery and unique vegetation at the gates of Lisbon and incorporating sweeping views of the Tróia Peninsula.
