Azorean Rural Banquet in the Manor House

I´m a designer and food passionate. I live in a secular Villa, on a tropical paradise island, nested amongst centenary palm trees, green gardens and chanting birds. I inherited the property from the matriarchs of my family, and with it all of their dusty stews and sweets recipe books. My dream began right there and then, I restored the villa into a guest house and started to share lavish meals with travelers and guests at the manor house. The atmosphere of a place that came from another era paired with old style Azorean countryside food, with the most fresh products of the island, that´s the kind of experience that makes me travel the world! And I´m passionate about providing that same feeling to the ones who travel here: a feel you are being brought back in time, enjoying a unique place and a true and memorable banquet, all made for yourself.

Itinerary

You will be served dinner at the manor house of a centenary rural Villa. Start with an aperitif while soaking the atmosphere of the place. At the big dinning table an array of typical Azorean starters followed by the mains, meat and fish stew based dishes, based on recipes of vintage Azorean cook books (you can consult them!), paired with drinks and wines while you ease into the evening. In Summer the tall doors will be open to the garden, where you can often gaze at the darkest starry sky. In Winter the big fireplace will be open and crackling.
Dinner will end with sweets, liquors and coffee like the rural aristocratic Azoreans did at their time. Time to exchange thoughts about the island with your host, learn culture and traditions through the food served, understanding the evolution and changes time brought to the island.
During the dinner or after, depending on the time, you are welcome to take a short walk to watch the sunset and breathtaking view at Escalvado viewpoint.
Dinner is made with local products in season, and local farmers and bakers resources. Therefore there is no set menu, but the dinner will be varied enough with different choices. Vegetarian option available.
