Bairrada Wine Experience

Located in the western part of the Beiras, between the mountainous Dão and the surf-washed Atlantic beaches, this wine country has a wild, maritime climate with abundant rainfall.

This wine country has important sparkling wines that may have the fragrance of Fernão Pires or they may be steelier, based on Arinto, Bical and Cercial grapes, sometimes with some Chardonnay. There are also ‘blancs de noirs’ based on the traditional local red grape Baga that can give rich, dense fruity reds that age into elegant wines of great complexity.

Since 2003, a multiplicity of other grapes has been permitted in DOC Bairrada wines – national grapes such as Touriga Nacional and Alfrocheiro as well as the international ones such Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Syrah and Merlot.

This experience mixes top-quality wine producers, tradition and modernity, sparkling wines and DOC wines from this beautiful and undiscovered Portuguese wine region.
