The Convent of Christ (XII century - XVIII century) is the denomination attributed to a set of historical buildings located in the parish of São João Baptista, city of Tomar, Portugal. The beginning of its construction dates back to 1160 and is closely linked to the beginnings of the kingdom of Portugal and the role played by the Order of the Templars, having been reconfigured and expanded in subsequent centuries when the Order of Christ was founded there.

Almourol Castle is located in the parish of Praia do Ribatejo, municipality of Vila Nova da Barquinha, district of Santarém, region of the Center (Beiras Region), Portugal, although its location is often attributed to Tancos, since it is the village closer and where it glimpses better.

Standing on a granite outcrop 18 meters above sea level, on a small island 310 meters long and 75 meters wide, in the middle course of the river Tagus, a little below its confluence with the river Zêzere, at the time of the Reconquest was part of the so-called Tagus Line, now the Templar Tourism Region. It is one of the most representative examples of the military architecture of the time, evoking simultaneously the beginnings of the kingdom of Portugal and the Order of the Templars, an association that reinforces the aura of mystery and romanticism. With the extinction of the Order of the Temple the castle of Almourol joins the patrimony of the Order of Christ (that was the successor in Portugal of the Order of the Templars).
