Mountain Biking Tour Pico Arieiro
A less uphill and more technical ride for those riders that don´t dispense the pleasure of some challenging trails!
This tour starts at 'Pico do Arieiro,' the third highest peak in Madeira and the highest point accessible by car (Alt.1818m), but depending on the riders desire to climb we can also start lower and then climb to 'Pico Arieiro'. Then from the highest point it´s a crazy mixture of mountainous rocky trails and many narrow, but flowy trails through the forests. There will be some uphills meters in between to cool-down the brakes, followed by a stop in a local bar where we can eat/drink something. After the stop we lower ourselves more into the rural area where we still have some surprising trails, levadas and some narrow cement trails through the typical houses. This last part is a fantastic way to get to know a bit more about Madeira´s rural side.
Suitable for:
Mountain bikers with good off-road riding skills and fitness level. Suitable for Trail/AM Bikes.
Terrain:
Easy to challenging trails, at some points the different trails require a good body position and brake control, riding technical narrow and steep trails. But with the guide's suggestion based on riders skills, we can also easily adjust the tour.
