Ponta Delgada Sete Cidades and Lagoa do Fogo discovery

Seven Cities, perhaps the most emblematic place in San Miguel, this is "only" one of the seven wonders of Portugal. Place of legends and stories, where each one is a King or Queen. This is a place to store through a photograph, or perhaps as someone once said ": no photograph can portray such beauty, I prefer to keep what my eye sees in mind:' Explore the amazing Fire volcano with his beautiful lake.

Starting at the Hotel  and following the southern coast, we left Ponta Delgada towards the Pico do Carvão viewpoint where we admire the north and south coasts. Breathtaking scenery!

 We continue to Canary Lake  viewpoint. We have the first view of the crater of the Seven Cities  Volcano and the majestic montains that form the crater rim.

 Towards the viewpoint of the King's view, perhaps the most famous viewpoint of Azores and is time to drive into the interior of the volcano, admiring the winding road that leads to the small Santiago Lake.

 

A stop at the Parish of Seven Cities to breathe the fresh air of a Parish that gives us a sense of peace and where we can enjoy an optional  traditional lunch at a typical restaurant.

 After a well-deserved break, time to left the interior of this magnificent volcano. Direction of the Escalvado viewpoint where we can admire the village of Mosteiros and Ponta da Ferraria. Contemplating the magnificent road surrounded by hydrangeas, Plantains, azaleas and other flowers so characteristic of the Azores,

 Start the ascent to the Barrosa Peak where we saw the first time the Fire Lake and most of the western part of the island of São Miguel, South coast and north, with the Seven Cities as a backdrop. We begin our descent to the north coast, stopping at the Fire Lake Viewpoint for a glimpse of this magnificent turquoise waters lake.

 A optional leisurely stop at Caldeira Velha Here we can enjoy the hot springs heated naturally by the heat of the volcano, the famous cascade of hot water and all tropical vegetation, which provides magnificent photos. (entrance 8 € person)

 We stop at Ribeira Grande City, where we visit the historical center and the liquors Factory / store, for a taste of all liquors that are produced there.

 Time to take back the road and storing  in memory so much beauty together towards the Hotel, wishing that everything was great and that another customer, has been dazzled by this small paradise, lost somewhere in the middle of the Atlantic .
