Visit the most iconic and recognized places in the city of Porto on this 3-hour guided small-group walking tour. See the old monasteries and churches, the prison, and the Jewish ghetto. See civil buildings such as the most recognized bookstores of the world, the Cleric's Tower and all the other projects of the Baroque architect Nicolau Nasoni, the cathedral, the remains of the city wall and the Customs and Mint house where Prince Henry the Navigator was born. Meet your guide morning or afternoon in at Gomes Teixeira Square, and take a stroll alongside the remains of the Roman-era walls of the city which have since been dismantled to improve some facilities. Among the history your guide will help you feel that you are part of Porto.

After a briefing about the Celtic, Roman and Moorish occupation, and battles with the Castilians, Napoleon, and the civil war you will learn about the development of the structure of the city. Learn about the river which once ran through the valley, the monasteries, the three walls (one of which the remains were only recently discovered), and the Roman vestiges.  

Visit the São Bento railway station and learn about its history, the site of a former Benedictine convent. This is also one of the landmarks of the city and one of the most beautiful train stations in the world.

Back on the street you will stroll up to the Café Serrana, built by a very important architect in the city, the cathedral, and the Convent of Santa Clara for a visit behind the remains of the walls.

The tour goes on to the Casa do Infante to see roman mosaic, pottery, coins, tiles, and an amazing model of the city as it was in the 15th century. Then walk along the river to the tour's end at Ribeira Square.
