After our visit to the Cork factory, it is time to visit the Evora Historic Center, starting with the walls.
Evora is surrounded by defensive and military style walls, with Arab and Roman characteristics, Gothic and Visigoth.
They are considered a national monument since 1922.
In this place we can also appreciate the architecture of the various buildings and monuments of the city, painted with characteristic colors to withstand the temperatures of the region.

After the walls, we will walk towards the main square of the city.
The Giraldo square is named after "Geraldo Sem Pavor", a general responsible for the conquest of Evora to the Moors in 1167.
After this feat, the first king of Portugal, King Dom Afonso Henriques, appointed Geraldo to be responsible for Evora and the Alentejo region.
In this square there is a fountain with the characteristic of having 8 taps, corresponding to the 8 streets that end in the square Giraldo.
